Best Xbox One Games to Buy in 2017
Source: xbox.com

Although the title is Best Xbox One Games, it is actually a personal list of games that I consider worth buying in 2017 on the said platform – some won’t make the cut simply because I don’t intend to buy them, not because they might be bad.

There are quite a few PlayStation 4 exclusives that I’d like to put on this list, but for obvious reasons I can’t.

Moreover, I will try to include only games that have release dates set or are certain to be released in 2017.

This is not a top from best to worst, I arranged the games by release dates. Why I chose them? Read more below.

Note that the article will be constantly updated as more games are announced.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

The title entered my Best Xbox One Games list for 2017 since I am curious about Ubisoft’s decision to switch to an open world setting, considering the previous games in the franchise were mission based.

I played Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (1 & 2) and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier when I was younger, and I liked the tactical aspect of those games and that you had to coordinate your whole team on the battlefield.

Ghost Recon Wildlands takes place in a sprawling open-world which can be traversed with all sorts of land, sea and air vehicles. Your job is to take down drug cartels, simple as that.

Did you know you can switch from third-person to first-person on the fly? And the game has a four-player co-op mode, so yay to that!

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Because Mass Effect is one of my favorite series of all time, and probably one of the best on the previous generation of consoles.

Also, I can’t wait to see what BioWare decided to do with the franchise, for the fact that Mass Effect: Andromeda features new characters and a new story set years after the events in the original Mass Effect trilogy.

Though I’d lie if I wouldn’t say that the trailers and gameplay footage released so far left me with a bit of a sour taste, but that’s entirely because I got attached too much to the story and characters from the previous installments.

Edit: Actually, scratch that. After the latest trailer, I’ve changed my mind. I want it now!

Too bad I won’t have the time to replay them (i.e. previous ME games) before Mass Effect: Andromeda hits the stores. Hopefully, BioWare will select me for the Mass Effect: Andromeda Beta.

For this game I might even consider buying the Collector’s Edition Nomad ND1.

Did you know that in Mass Effect: Andromeda you can craft and name your weapons? How cool is that?

Injustice 2

Do I need to say more? Typically, I don’t like fighting games, but NetherRealm Studios conquered me with their Mortal Kombat series.

So, when I heard about a game called Injustice: Gods Among Us that will feature DC superheroes and villains set in an alternate timeline I said: “Bring it!”.

The game delivered and I played it for quite some time. I was positive there will be a sequel eventually, and the studio didn’t disappoint.

More and more details are emerging about the game, including new trailers and images. Plus, NetherRealm recently announced there will be an Injustice 2 beta.

Red Dead Redemption 2

I have picked Red Dead Redemption 2 as part of my Best Xbox One Games list for obvious reasons. It is a massive open-world game developed by Rockstar Games and I am sure they will deliver another masterpiece.

Also, 2010’s Red Dead Redemption was probably the first game I tried on Xbox 360 and it is hands-down one of the best open world games that I ever played. Heck, even the Undead Nightmare expansion felt like a game on its own.

The details are scarce at this point, but I am already sold. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must buy!

Honorable mentions: Resident Evil 7, For Honor, Halo Wars 2.
