Wolfenstein: The New Order Chapter 1 Collectibles Locations

Wolfenstein: The New Order Deathshead’s Compound is the first chapter in the videogame developed by MachineGames and introduces the protagonist of the game, B.J. Blazkowicz.

It also helps players to familiarize with the game mechanics.

The year is 1946, and in order to have a chance at winning the war against the Nazis a group of soldiers is sent to attack the known location of a general called Deathshead, who developed a lot of the machines used by Nazi soldiers.

There are many types of collectibles in Wolfenstein: The New Order that can earn you up to seven achievements / trophies.

There are 72 Enigma Codes fragments, 50 Gold pieces and 10 Letters.

Aside from that you can collect 16 Maps that reveal the surroundings in every chapter, 3 Records so you can listen to some of the music used in the game, 10 Health Upgrades, and 10 Armor Upgrades.

The Health and Armor upgrades cannot be collected in one playthrough, meaning you have to play the game in both timelines that are based on a choice you have to make at the end of Chapter 1.

However, once you acquire any of the collectibles the game saves the progress regardless if you die or you don’t hit a checkpoint.

Moreover, in most of the chapters you will encounter Commanders that can reveal the collectibles on the in-game map if killed stealthy.

Wolfenstein: The New Order Chapter 1 is a lengthy mission that features a lot of hidden collectibles that can be easily overlooked. Use the next collectibles guide to get them all in your first playthrough.

Wolfenstein: The New Order Chapter 1 Collectibles Guide

Map #1

Once you reach the shore you need to go in the enemy trenches and blow up the machine gun nest. After that you follow the trenches until you reach the second nest, where the machine gun is inactive (leftmost point on your map).

The Map of the area can be found on some crates right next to the machine gun.

Enigma Code #1 (Piece 1:1)

You have two choices on how to infiltrate the bunker. Grab the explosives and blow the large door that’s nearby. As soon as you enter turn right and head inside the small room to find the first Enigma Code.

Map #2

Follow the train tracks and at the turn go left, inside a storage room. You can find the bunker map on a shelf at the back of the room.

Gold #1 (Gold Medal)

As you exit the storage room toward the stairs you can see a metal door to your left that is locked.

At the end of the tracks you can find an opened vent behind the crates. Get inside the morgue and pick up the Gold piece from the table that’s next to the locked metal door.

Enigma Code #2 (Piece 1:2)

After you disable the first AA gun head through the door on your right and up the stairs inside the room that’s in front of you. On the right wall there are three switches.

Pull them in the right order, left, right, middle, to reveal a secret room behind the wall. The second Enigma Code is on the table in the secret room. You can also get the silencer for you pistol in the same room.

Letter (Oskar’s Letter)

In the next area with enemies you have to use some stairs to reach the next level of the bunker. Exactly after you climb half the stairs turn right and go inside the crew quarters to find the Letter on the second bunk to your right.

Gold #2 (Gold Goblet)

After you disable the second AA gun exit through the door on your right. Just before heading outside there are many crates on the left side.

Some of them are covered with a protective sheet and the second Gold piece can be found under the sheet (crouch to spot it).

Enigma Code #2 (Piece 1:3)

Once outside you need to open a door, but a Panzerhund attacks you. Wyatt get rids of him with a grenade and then he tells you to grab his hand to climb up.

Don’t go to him yet or you’ll miss the collectible. Instead, head in the room where the Panzerhund was and get the Enigma Code from the crates in front of you.

Map #3

After you scale the castle wall you need to raise the gate for you team. If you drop down from the left chain you have to open a wooden door.

Follow the short corridor and in front of you there’s some sort of small storage area (you can stealth kill the commander that patrols here).

The Map of the area is on a crate inside this room.

Enigma Code #5 (Piece 1:4)

From the map room you can take the stairs on your right and then quickly turn left once you reach the next floor.

The floor on this corridor is broken. Instead of using the planks to get on the other side drop through the hole and grab the Enigma Code collectible that’s on the crate.

Gold #3 (Gold Chalice)

From the previous collectible you will exit next to the map room. Now use the other set of stairs to find the other commander inside a room with a lot of food on the table. The third Gold piece in Chapter 1 is on a cabinet behind the table.

Gold #4 (Gold Sword)

Follow the path until you reach the room with paintings and knight statues. One of the knights holds a golden sword, which is the fourth Gold collectible.

The fifth Enigma Code can be misleading, because even if it’s on the next floor is inside a locked room. In the room with the paintings you need to pull the sword of the knight that on your left side as you’re standing next to Deathshead’s painting.

Follow the hidden path to gain access to the locked room with the collectible (watch for the commander that’s sitting at the table).

Gold #5 (Gold Floorball Trophy)

On the next floor you are attacked by a dog that jumps over some crates. Go around the crates and smash the wooden crate on the right to find the Gold collectible.

Enigma Code #6 (Piece 1:6)

In the outside area you have to kill a bunch of soldiers with the mounted turret.

Once you’re done with them follow the waypoint to the crashed plane and keep an eye on your right side to find a hole in the wall just a bit ahead of the plane. The sixth Enigma Code is placed in that hole.

Enigma Code #7 (Piece 1:7)

The final Enigma Code in Deathshead’s Compound can be acquired after you drop in the incinerator room.

When you need to search for the key to unlock the door open the cabinet that’s closest to the door to find the documents.
