In Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition, Hatred Symbolized is a quest activated during the second act of the game.
No matter who you decide to follow at the end of the first chapter, you will still have to complete this quest, in order to advance through the games story.
Hatred Symbolized is similar to Death Symbolized, but the events that occur, vary, depending on your current ally.
Iorveths Path
If you picked Iorveth as you companion when you finished the first chapter of the game, after you complete The War Council quest, you will trigger a new quest named The Eternal Battle.
While working on that quest, you will have to speak to Philippa who sends you to find two powerful items: a banner and a sword.
The first item is found during the Death Symbolized quest, but to find the second one you have to finish Hatred Symbolized.
Assuming that you talked to Philippa in Vergen, about both items, you will have to visit Cecil Burdon.
Quest Description
“The witcher learned that to lift the curse from the battlefield he would need mementos of the battle representing the virtues and horrors of war. He was concerned because he knew very little about the clash between the Aedirnian and Kaedweni armies.
Philippa Eilhart then told him to see Cecil Burdon, Vergens alderman, who was reputed to be a real trove of knowledge on the subject. Geralt went to off to question the dwarf about the battle.”

After Death Symbolized
Walkthrough
After you finish Death Symbolized, return to Vergen and talk to Cecil about the sword you are looking for.
You will find out that the item is in Saskias possession, but since you cant reach her, because she was poisoned, you will not be able to complete this quest until you finish A Matter of Life and Death.
As soon as you help Philippa to prepare a cure, and Saskia gets better, you will complete A Matter of Life and Death as well as Hatred Symbolized.
