To use the cheat/exploit follow the next steps:
Step 1: The moment you leave White Orchard, you have to reach Novigrad. You can do this by boat, swimming, or by completing the quest Thou Shalt Not Pass in Velen.
Step 2: Once you reach Novigrad, head to the central square.
Step 3: Look for a merchant selling fish. Buy some Shells and Sea Shells from him. If you have money, buy all of them.
Step 4: In the same market, look for a blacksmith and dismantle all Shells and Sea Shells you have bought to get Pearls and Black Pearls. Now sell them to the same blacksmith.
Step 5: If the blacksmith runs out of money, meditate for several days and sell him the goods. Alternatively you can keep the pearls and sell them to other blacksmiths.
Step 6: If the merchant runs out of shells, meditate and he will restock. Repeat as many times as you want.
