Born in Japan, Gouken is a Street Fighter character who plays an important role in the background story of the franchise.
Gouken is Ryu’s adoptive father and Akuma’s older brother.
Additionally, he is Ryu’s and Ken’s martial arts master and he also trained Dan in the past.
His first appearance was in Street Fighter IV as a boss character, but in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, he is a playable character.
Gouken’s name means “Strong Fist”.
In Super Street Fighter 4, Gouken enters the S.I.N. tournament eager to see how his students mastered the skills they have learned. He also fights against his younger brother Akuma, who wants to have the full control over Ryu’s fate.
