In Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Akuma is a playable character, known in Japan as Gouki, or Goki, which means “Strong Demon”.
Akuma’s first appearance in the Street Fighter series of video games was as a hidden character and a boss featured in Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Akuma’s origins are unknown, as well as his age, however it is known that he is Gouken’s brother and he is also Ryu’s adoptive uncle.
In Super Street Fighter 4, Akuma continues his search for Ryu, and when he finds him, he realizes that he must fight Gouken first.
The two brothers fight to the death, for a valuable prize, which is Ryu. Eventually, Gouken saves Ryu and Akuma returns to his training, and to his search for a capable opponent.
