SoulCalibur V Characters Guide: Cervantes de Leon

Cervantes de Leon debuted in Soul Blade, but fans of this character were also able to access him in other games of the franchise; such as Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur II, Soul Calibur III, Soul Calibur IV and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny.

He also appeared in Soul Calibur Legends, as an opponent not as a playable character. In Soul Calibur 5, Cervantes de Leon returns with a new look, moves and attacks.

Cervantes de Leon is a Spanish man from Valencia who lost his father (a sailor serving the Spanish king); a fact that determinates Cervantes to become a pirate.

With help from Vercci, Voldo‘s master, Cervantes de Leon accepts to sail in the search of Soul Edge. Cervantes de Leon found pieces of Soul Edge that led him to the cursed sword; but he got insane after he wield it.

Li Long confronted Cervantes de Leon to claim the blade for himself but was defeated. Twenty years after that duel, the pirate terrified all that was standing in his path until Sophitia, Taki, and Siegfried managed to defeat him.

This wasn’t Cervantes’s end as Nightmare resurrected him.  He started over his search for Soul Edge but he had to consume souls in order to withstand the part of Soul Edge that was keeping him alive.

In SoulCalibur III, Cervantes saw how the power within him was vanishing and was informed by Tira that Soul Calibur was responsible for the destruction of the other part of Soul Edge.

Before the events from SoulCalibur IV, Cervantes even looked for his daughter, Ivy to take her soul and become more powerful, but he wasn’t able to find her.

At the Ostrheinsburg Castle, Cervantes de Leon tried to take possession over Soul Edge again, but Ivy ruined his plans.

He ended up in other dimension only to return in SoulCalibur 5 and try to fulfill his will.
