Released in March 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U, the videogame is the sequel to Sniper Ghost Warrior, thus being the second installment in the series.
The main character is named Cole Anderson, and players take control of him in different missions around the world, including locations like Burma, Sarajevo, and Tibet.
The action takes place in present days, but some of the missions are placed in 1993.
The game uses a first-person perspective, and most of the time a stealth approach is required, either using sniping techniques or knife assassinations.

The single player campaign of Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 is divided in three acts, each consisting of three or four separate missions, usually taking place in different periods or locations.
The gameplay is linear, but there are many points where players can use multiple approaches, hence modifying the missions objectives. Throughout a mission there are many checkpoints that are mostly triggered when a player is moving from a section of the map to another one.
Each mission features four Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 Secrets collectibles, and since there are 10 missions in the video game, it means that there is a total of 40 SGW2 collectables.
The Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 Secrets take various forms, like hula girl statues, film reels, Buddha statues, and most of the time these are found inside or around buildings and other structures.
Once a player acquires a Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 Secret collectable, the progress is saved regardless if the player hit the checkpoint or not.
However, if the player activates the next section of the map, he must be aware of the fact that he cannot return to the previous area.
The collectibles can be tracked in the main menu of the videogame, and those who manage to get all the Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 Secrets in an act, will unlock an achievement/trophy.
