Shadows of the Damned Walkthrough: 3-1 – It’s a Bughunt

It’s a Bughunt is a chapter featured in the second act of Shadows of the Damned, the video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture.

The game guide below explains how to finish this chapter and how to beat the final boss, Maras Grim.

It’s a Bughunt is the first chapter of the third act and continues Garcia’s quest in Fleming’s Underworld.

Shadows of the Damned was released on June 21, 2011 and can be played on PS3 and Xbox 360.

When the chapter starts, follow the alley and make sure you read the poster on one of the walls, to the left.

Move forward and check the small yard on the right, where you will find Christopher. Trade your white gems, then return to the main alley and advance.

There is a Wanted poster on one of the walls to the left, and you will be attacked by Demons. Take them out and go through the door at the end of the alley.

You will enter a tower. Make sure you sprint on the stairs, because the Darkness starts to rise. Take out the Demons that appear in your way as fast as you can, and when you reach the dead end, smash the door on the left.

You will go outside, on a balcony. Get ready to fight several demons, including a big Demon. Make sure you hit his weak spot, on the back and after you kill them all, fire a Light Shot on the Goat Head you see up in the tower.

The bell will fall and it will create a hole in the ground, on the bottom floor. Go down and jump through that hole.

Investigate the tunnels and kill the demons you encounter, and then follow the passage behind the locked gate. Use your Light Shot to unlock it.

Move forward, and, on the right side, you will see a gate protected by a Demon who asks for a strawberry.

Follow the main tunnel and you will find the strawberry there, then return to the demon and unlock the gate.

Advance but try to move fast because you will be covered by Darkness. Open the next gates by shooting the devices connected to the vines and using your Light Shot on the golden seals.

Eventually, you will reach a large chamber and you will see a device coming from the ground.

Remember that you have to destroy the mechanism attached to the device, if you want to stop it. Lure the demons out of the Darkness; otherwise you won’t be able to kill them.

After the device is destroyed a new gate will unlock. Use it to exit, but only after you investigate the chamber you stand in.

Starting now, all you have to do is to follow a tunnel; however some areas are covered in Darkness. Don’t forget to destroy the devices connected to the vines and use your Light Shots on the gates with golden seals.

You will also have to activate a Shrimp Lamp. Follow it and kill the demons that span near you.

Eventually you will reach the end of the tunnel and you will enter a very large room. It is an arena, and as soon as jump inside you will be attacked, in waves.

During the first wave, you have to kill normal Demons who will try to destroy the Goat Head. Make sure you keep the light on, and take them out before they reach the head.

During the second wave you have to destroy some armored Demons. Try to hit their unprotected body parts, and dodge when they attack.

During the third wave, you have to fight against Maras Grim, the boss of this chapter.

Maras Grim Boss Fight

If you want to defeat Maras Grim, you have to know how to hit her weak spot.

As you noticed, she turns off the light from time to time. Don’t shoot the Goat Head, because Maras Grim is vulnerable only when she stands in the Darkness.

Fire a Light Shot, and she will be stunned. You will also notice a red core on her body. Fire as fast as you can and hit that spot.

You have to repeat this phase several times if you want to kill her.

During the fight, follow this tips:

If you take too much damage, from the Darkness, hit the Goat Head and drink up to recover.

Avoid Maras Grim’s scythe by dodging or by hiding behind the pillars.

Don’t waste your ammo if you don’t have a clear shoot.

After you kill her, you will unlock the Don’t Fear the Reaper 1 Achievement/Trophy, and you will find another blue gem. Pick it up and give it to Johnson, and you will unlock the Hotboner.

Use the door on the other side of the arena to exit and continue through the tunnel until you reach some stairs. Go up and use the Hotboner to destroy the wall in front of you. Place the mines and then fire to detonate them.

Do the same thing on the wall to the right, and you will find a secret area. Inside is a red crystal.

Advance through the hole you just created and open the next door. The first chapter of the third act ends here, and you will unlock the It’s a BughuntAchievement/Trophy.
