In Saints Row: The Third, players can use melee weapons if they run out of ammo on other weapons, or if they wish to experience a different gameplay, where keeping a safe distance is not important.
Some melee weapons such as the Woodsman or the Apoca-Fist have increased damage, but to get them, the player must complete specific tasks.
The Woodsman (Chainsaw) for example, is one of the most effective weapons is Saints Row: The Third (except for grenades, rocket launchers and other special weapons).
The Apoca-Fist can also inflict high damage, but just like the Woodsman, this melee weapon must be unlocked.
