Taking advantage of his position as a leader, Emperor Damocles started to expand the territories of his kingdom to the south, threatening the freedom of another race, the Orcs, also known as Greenskins.
The result was an imminent war in which many died, but both races resisted. The Orcs tried to push back the attackers, and even won some battles, forcing Damocles to build a wall around his territories in order to protect his people.
Left outside, the Elves and the Dwarves were forced to accept an alliance with Damocles, hoping that they will be helped by the Emperor, if the Greenskins march towards their territories. But the Emperors plans regarding the Elves and the Dwarves are different.
The playable characters in Of Orcs and Men are Arkaïl and Styx. Arkaïl is a Greenskin Orc, and the most respected member of the Bloodjaws, the elite group of fighters that stood against Damocles.
Arkaïl is also known as “Butcher of Bay Harbor”, a nickname he earned when he slaughtered thousands of imperial soldiers during the battle of Bay Harbor. Unfortunately, Arkaïl also killed many Orcs when he went berserk, and now he must pay for his mistakes, by completing a mission that will change the fate of all races forever: kill Damocles.
The mission becomes even harder because Damocles is well protected by Elves and Dwarves, but Arkaïl wont fight alone, as he will be helped by Styx.
Unlike the fearsome Orc, Styx is a Goblin, and a sneaky character capable to poison and assassinate all who stand against him. He seems to know everything that happens on the continent, and his skills to exploit the weakness of his enemies, are unparalleled.
Players control both characters from a third-person perspective, and have to use both heroes to complete a series of objectives and quests that will eventually bring the team closer to Damocles.
Of Orcs and Men received positive scores from reviewers. Nathan Meunier of Gamespot, gave 7.0 points to the title, praising the games graphics and the depth of the combat system.
The video-game; however, was criticized for its linear maps and several glitches.
