The full NBA 2K14 tracklist was curated and produced by LeBron James, who is also the cover athlete. Born December 30, 1984, LeBron James, also nicknamed “King James” started his career as a professional basketball player as a member of Cleveland Cavaliers, but in 2010 he was transferred to Miami Heat.
In 2012 LeBron James won his first championship after the game against Oklahoma City Thunder, and in 2013 his team repeated the performance against San Antonio Spurs.
2K Sports announced LeBron James to be the cover athlete on June 6, 2013, through a YouTube video uploaded on their official channel.
One month later, on July 26, 2013, 2K Sports revealed the official NBA 2K14 soundtrack and all songs picked by Miami Heats superstar, LeBron James.
The announcement was followed by LeBrons statement, in which he approved the vote of confidence: “I love that I’m the first NBA 2K cover athlete to choose the soundtrack.”
The list of songs picked by, LeBron James includes titles performed by various artists and bands such as The Black Keys, Phil Collins Jay-Z, Eminem and Coldplay. NBA 2K14 is the 15th title in the NBA 2K series developed by Visual Concepts, and the 9th title published by 2K Sports.
The video game was released on October 1, 2013 in North America for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC; and on October 4, 2014, it also became available in Europe for the same platforms. NBA 2K14 is the first video game of the franchise to include 14 Euroleague teams along with the NBA teams.
On November 15, 2013, NBA 2K14 will be released for PlayStation 4 and one week later, on November 22, 2013, for Xbox One.
After its official release for the current-gen consoles, NBA 2014 received multiple acclaims and positive scores from critics, managing to gather 87 points on Metacritic.
On IGN, NBA 2K14 was reviewed by Ryan McCaffrey who awarded the tile a total of 9.3 points out of 10.
