Rain is the third Mortal Kombat 2011 DLC character, and he became available to all MK 9 players on July 19, 2011, following Kenshi and Skarlet.
Unlike other ninja characters included in Mortal Kombat 2011 (Sub-Zero or Scorpion), Rain is a Demigod (Half-God) and an Edenian.
He is loyal to Shao Khan who killed his father, Argus, during the invasion of Outworld.
Rain was raised by the Edenian Resistance and he was trained to become the ultimate fighter.
Unfortunately, Rain also became an arrogant ninja, and when his command of the Edenian Resistance was refused, he turned against his allies and he joined Shao Khans troops.
Now, in Mortal Kombat 2011, Rain returns as one of Shao Khan’s champions, seeking more power and the Emperor’s promised reward:
“A refugee orphaned by Shao Kahn’s conquest, Rain grew up under the protection of the Edenian Resistance. An exceptional fighter, he soon rose through their ranks. As his reputation grew, so did his arrogance.
When Rain demanded leadership of the Resistance forces, he was refused. Infuriated, he turned against his rebel comrades and betrayed them to their sworn enemy.
In payment for this treason, Rain was promised his own army by the emperor Shao Kahn. Power would be his – no matter the cost… “
