Raiden or Lord Raiden is a Mortal Kombat character and one of the original characters of the series.
Raiden played an important role in all MK video games as he is a God and the protector of Earthrealm.
Raiden controls the power of thunder, thats why he is also called the God of Thunder.
Additionally, he is an Elder God, a title he received a long time ago, after he defeated Shinnok.
Just like Raiden, Shinnok was an Elder God, but he wanted to rule the Earthrealm. Being the Earthrealm’s protector, Raiden fought and defeated Shinnok but the war between them almost destroyed the Earthrealm, as well as its civilizations.
One of these civilizations was the Saurians (Reptile’s race) who were forced to retreat to another realm, called Zaterra.
During the fight against Shinnok, Raiden received help from other Elder Gods, and when Shinnok was defeated; Raiden took his amulet and banished him to Netherealm.
The amulet can be observed in Mortal Kombat 9 because the game’s plot is centered on it.
In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden can be considered the main character of the game because he appears in multiple cut-scenes, aiding his fighters.
Additionally, gamers will play as Raiden in the last chapter of the games story mode (chapter 16). Just like in the previous MK video games, Raiden posses multiple fighting moves.
As an Elder God, Raiden can fly, he can teleport and he can electrocute his opponents. All his special attacks, including his finishing moves (fatalities) are presented in the guide below.
