Quan Chi or Quan-Chi is the second character that can be unlocked in Mortal Kombat 9.
In the Mortal Kombat franchise, Quan Chi made his debut as a playable character in Mortal Kombat 4, but his first appearance was in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
Quan Chi is a former demon and his past is mysterious. It is however known, that when he became a sorcerer in Netherrealm, he was able to travel between realms without being detected by the Elder Gods.
Having this advantage, Quan Chi was able to increase his magical abilities, until one day when he came in contact with Shinnok (one of the Elder Gods).
At that time, Shinnok was controlled by Lucifer but he offered a deal to Quan Chi, agreeing to increase his magical powers, in exchange for his freedom.
Quan Chi helped Shinnok who kept his promise and increased Quan Chis powers even more.
Additionally, Quan Chi became the arch-sorcerer of the Netherealm, controlled by Shinnok.
The evil sorcerer also played an important role in Shao Khan’s storyline and he is the one behind the rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

“The Netherrealm has produced many vile beings, but none rival the Arch-Sorcerer Quan Chi. In lieu of Netherrealm demons, he prefers to resurrect deceased warriors for use in his sinister plans. Foremost among them is the tortured Shirai Ryu ninja Scorpion, who is Quan Chi’s personal assassin. Quan Chi is building an army of such specters–the purpose of which has yet to be revealed. Another mystery is the sorcerer’s involvement in the Mortal Kombat tournament. The Netherrealm has no stake in its outcome, which leads some observers to question his presence…”
In Mortal Kombat 9 Quan Chi can be unlocked by completing Chapter 16 of the games story mode.
After Quan Chi is unlocked, players can use the following guide and learn how to perform his special moves, X-Ray attacks or his finishing moves (fatalities and babalities).
