Liu Kang is the main protagonist in the Mortal Kombat video game series and Shang Tsung’s biggest rival.
The character debuted in the first Mortal Kombat video game, where he represented the Earthrealm in the tournament.
Being raised by the Shaolin monks, Liu Kang learned how to fight as a spiritual warrior. The Shaolin monks saw Kang’s fighting potential and trained him to fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament side by side with the world’s best fighters.
Raiden also observed Kang’s skills and sent him to train with Master Bo’ Rai Cho, helping Kang to develop his fighting abilities even more. When his training was complete, Raiden enlisted him in all Mortal Kombat tournaments where he defeated all contestants, including Shang Tsung.
In Mortal Kombat 2011, or Mortal Kombat 9, Liu Kang plays an important role, especially because he is Earthrealms best hope for freedom. In the story mode, players will observe that in many cut-scenes, Liu Kang stands side by side with Raiden, the God of Thunder.
Various moves and special attacks that were available in the previous MK video games, can still be executed in Mortal Kombat 9.
Kang’s bicycle kick and his fireball attacks are easy to perform, and from this point of view, Liu Kang is one of the easiest characters to play with.
Unlike other fighters, Liu Kang features a special fighting stance, called the Dragon Stance. When he enters this stance, Kangs basic attacks become more powerful, and sometimes deadly.
