Kano is one of the original Mortal Kombat fighters who appeared in the first video game of the franchise, as a playable character.
Kano is also one of Shao Khan’s allies and he can be accessed in the ninth episode of the franchise, named Mortal Kombat 9.
The character debuted in Mortal Kombat wearing a white costume, but in time, his in-game equipment changed.
Kano’s story begins when he entered the Outworld trying to recover a powerful artifact, named the Eye of Chitian.
Since Kano was also the leader of the Black Dragon organization, he was caught by Major Jax Briggs, before stealing the artifact.
Kano fought Briggs but he was defeated and transported back to an Earthrealm prison, from which he soon escaped. Later, the Black Dragon leader offered his services to Shang Tsung, believing that the sorcerer’s castle is filled with treasures.
Unfortunately for Kano, his organization remained on the U.S. Special Forces blacklist, which sent two of their best specialists to handle him.
One of these specialists was Kano’s old rival Jax Briggs, while the other was Lt. Sonya Blade.
The rivalry between Kano and Sonya Blade started when Kano killed one of Sonya’s partners. Since then, Sonya and Kano became enemies and her goal is to see Kano dead once and for all.
In Mortal Kombat 9, Kano is described as an undisciplined and dangerous thug. He is loyal to the Black Dragon organization and to Shang Tsung, knowing that winning the Mortal Kombat tournament will bring him multiple advantages.
Equipped with his poison knives, Kano knows no mercy and he is capable to perform fast and deadly attacks.
