Freddy Krueger or Frederick Charles Krueger is the 4th. and final Mortal Kombat 9 DLC fighter released as a downloadable character on August 9, 2011.
He is also the main character in the Nightmare on Elm Street series of movies and an undead who resides in Dream Realm.
He debuts in Mortal Kombat 9 as one of Shao Khan’s enemies who tries to recover after he lost a fight against the Emperor.
Freddy Krueger died at age of 32 and just like in the horror movies he is a mutilated character, armed with razor gloves. In the movie series he uses these gloves to murder people in their dreams.
The gloves as well as several quotes that made Freddy Krueger famous, appear in MK9, and can be observed by all players who have downloaded this character.
According to Freddy Krueger’s bio, he entered the Mortal Kombat tournament to defeat Shao Khan and to gain full control over the Earthrealms souls, forever:
“A malevolent spirit of the Dream Realm, Freddy Krueger preys on the souls of the living as they sleep. When Shao Kahn began to steal Earthrealm’s souls – souls Freddy considered his own – Freddy battled the emperor in the Dream Realm.
But Shao Kahn’s will was too strong. He pulled Freddy into the real world, where he was mortal, and defeated him. A badly injured yet determined Freddy fitted both his hands with demonically enhanced razor gloves. Once he has killed Shao Kahn he will find a way back to the Dream Realm, where he will torment Earthrealm’s souls for eternity.”
