Baraka is a Tarkatan fictional character from the Mortal Kombat series of video games.
He debuted as a playable character in Mortal Kombat II, and he can be identified by his long teeth and two blades which extend from his arms, when he fights.
Baraka is one of Shao Khan’s best servants and he would do anything for his emperor.
He is a cold blooded fighter and the one who led Shao Khan’s forces against the Shaolin Temple of Light, after the second Mortal Kombat tournament.
Later, Baraka and Mileena tried to destroy Shao Khan, but they were both caught by the emperor. Mileena was killed and Baraka sent away from the court.
In the Mortal Kombat franchise, Baraka also tries to betray Quan Chi and he was one of Onaga’s servants. Mortal Kombat 9 or 2011 presents Baraka as one of Shao Khan’s most loyal fighters.
The characters in game biography reveals the following information:
“Baraka is the fiercest of the Tarkatans, vicious nomadic mutants from the wastes of Outworld. Like all Tarkatan males, he joined Shao Kahn’s army once he came of age and survived the brutal Ritual of Blood. He gained the rank of Enforcer after single-handedly defeating a rebel faction. His loyalty and strength make him a favorite of the emperor; his retractable blades have slain many of Shao Kahn’s most bitter enemies. As a kontestant in the Mortal Kombat tournament, he will ensure his emperor’s claim to Earthrealm.”
