Inside, check the room next to the one where your crew member is located, across the hallway.

“A scientist is searching for missing prototypes for a biotic amplification system.
Search the Ismar Frontier for the components and return them to the scientist on the Citadel.”

Walkthrough
To complete the mission go back to Normandy and using the Galaxy Map, from Milky Way, travel to Ismar Frontier (western side).
After you enter the system, find planet Metaponto, scan it, and send a probe to retrieve the components.
Return to the quest giver to complete the mission.
Next side-mission is Apien Crest: Banner of the First Regiment.
