Suspicious Spheres is an accessible side-quest you can complete in Luxerion, the first main area featured in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
Suspicious Spheres, can be played after In the shadow of the heretics, and to trigger it you have to find one of the residents in Plaza of Prayer.
His name is Virgil who wants you to find three strange spheres similar to those scattered around the city. The spheres are red and locked, and you can only open them with a specific device.
The following guide was created to walk you through the Suspicious Spheres side-quest, and help you finish the assignment faster so you can save time.
Quest Details
Description: “Someone has been dropping Order supply spheres willy-nilly all over the city. The spheres are cloaked in a sinister red light. Virgil wants lightning to check all these suspicious spheres and then report back to him He will be waiting for her in the Plaza of Prayers in the Residences.”

Quest Walkthrough
To start the Suspicious Spheres side-quest head to the Residences area in Luxerion, by crossing the Commercial District and moving SW.
In the corner of the large plaza, near a building you should see Virgil who is wearing a white coat and a hood. Be advised that Virgil spawns after 8 AM and it disappears when the clock hits 5 PM.
Talk to him for additional information regarding the red locked spheres and he will give you the Supply Sphere Password. Additionally, he agrees to let you keep all items inside the spheres you unlock. With the device in hand, it is time to locate the three spheres. The first one is locate right next to Virgil.
Open it to get a copy of the Prophecy of the Future. The second red sphere is in the Warehouse District near the stairs that connect the said area and The Residences. You will find the sphere near a house and inside is a sheaf of Cathedral Sentry Notes.
The third sphere is easier to locate, but you have to visit the South Station. While in the area, find the Canvas of Prayers and place Lightning in front of it. Now turn around and you should see a large white house.
Next to it, on the ground is a white sofa and the third sphere. Inside it you will find a sheaf of Fanatic Notes. Once you unlock all red spheres in Luxerion, go back to Virgil to retrieve your rewards.
