Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning Walkthrough Part 10 The Sidhe

The tenth part in our full Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning walkthrough covers another area of interest, called The Sidhe.

The following Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning walkthrough part 10 The Sidhe was created with the purpose of helping those who have reached this zone, and wish to complete all quests while exploring it.

The Sidhe is located south of Star Camp and west of Ysa. We traveled to this area coming from Star Camp, and the first stop was St. Eadric’s Mission, where we have found Father Etair, on the second floor.

Looks like he was murdered and now, we have to speak to the monks. The quest we have followed is called What Lies Beneath; however, the quest log also includes:

Old Friends, New Foes – Main Quest

The Silent Step – Faction Quest

Lock and Key – Faction Quest

Shadow of Enfamanir – Side Quest

Keeper of the Keys – Task

Long Overdue – Task

For now, we will focus on What Lies Beneath.

Faction Quest: What Lies Beneath

Objective: Speak to the monks

On the bottom floor, you will find a chest, which can be unlocked using one of the keys located on the second floor; in the room where Father Etair was killed (check the desks). Inside the unlockable chest you will find a Storage Case.

After you explore the house, exit and talk to Brother Aedwin. Tell him that Father Etair was killed and since you already have the Storage Case, you will receive a new objective.

You have to descend the Mission Well, located NW from the central area.

Once you get inside you will be asked to find 4 crystals. As you can notice, the dungeon features only one tunnel that is inhabited by Kobolds. Some of these Kobolds, carry the crystals you are looking for, so make sure nobody escapes.

The final crystal; however, can be found on a small subterranean island, where you will see a monk tied up: Brother Wulf. Free him, and you will find out that he killed Father Etair because he was cursed. Dispel the curse, and you will receive a Whistle.

Swim through the tunnel and head north until you see another island. While standing on the ground, use the whistle and you will find the last crystal.

Exit the well and travel to the House of Ballads.

Talk to Hallam the White and you will receive a new side quest: The Champions.

Faction Quest: The Champions

Objective: Enter Windemere

Hallam the White wants you to travel to Windemere and locate the Maid of Windemere. This location is north of House of Ballads, so make the necessary preparations before leaving. When you are ready travel NE from the House of Ballads, and through the tunnel in the mountains.

When you exit the passage, the Maid of Windemere will appear, and you will receive another objective. You have to find the House of Ballads Armor.

Proceed forward and you will see Sir Airmer fighting a boggart. Talk to him and ask him to give you his armor. Since he refuses, challenge him and take it, after you defeat him.

Equip the full set and proceed north. Cross the Weeping Gorge, and up on a ledge you will talk to the Maid of Windemere. Your objective changes and you will be asked to find Sir Elswin.

Elswin can be found in the river beneath you. Since you already have a resurrection potion from Hallam the White, use it on Elswin and then kill him so you can cross the Weeping Gorge.

Continue north and you will enter a small arena. Here, talk to Sir Creth, and kill him, then enter the tunnel to the NE.

In the next area, the Maid of Windemere will appear in front of you, asking you to join her. At this point you have to make a decision. We decided not to join the Maid of Windemere, and we received a new side-quest.

Faction Quest: Cursed Kingdom

Objective: Speak to the Chancellor

The Chancellor can be found in Summer’s End, in the Chantry, a small cottage located in the central area. After you talk to him, you will have use the same whistle you used before and locate the crystals around Summer’s End.

Blow the whistle, to determine their exact positions; however, you should know that after you destroy the last crystal, all creatures inside Summer’s End, will turn against you, including the Trolls.

Clear the area, then return to the Chancellor and you will receive the Bell Tower Key. Now, exit the Chantry and go north until you reach the Bell Tower. Unlock it, then use the Bell Rope located on the second floor.

Now, you are able to enter Windemere Castle, located to the north.

When you enter, the faction quest Cursed Kingdom is complete and another faction quest starts: The Hero and the Maid.

Faction Quest: The Hero and the Maid

Objective: Find the Maid of Windemere

Since, we decided not to ally with the Maid of Windemere; our goal is to find her.  She appears when you reach the stone in the first chamber, and your objective updates again. You have to rescue King Wencen, Queen Belmaid, Sir Farrara and Dame Oleyn.

The Castle of Windemere is a normal dungeon, and the characters you have to rescue are marked clearly on the map.

You will notice that all characters mentioned above will attack you, except King Wencen. When fighting Queen Belmaid, Sir Farrara and Dame Oleyn, remember the game’s basics.

Never use the same attack or spell as your opponent. If they attack you with lightning spells, cast fire spells on them and try to enter reckoning mode every time you fight one of these bosses, because you will be able to earn an increased number of experience points.

All bosses are distributed in the castle’s chambers, and while you explore the dungeon, you will notice that one area can’t be accessed because of a magical barrier.

Once you save King Wencen, the barrier will vanish and you will be able to continue deeper in the castle. From King Wencen you will receive the King’s Token. Your next objective is to confront the Maid of Windemere.

While fighting the Maid of Windemere you have an important advantage, because she spawns Sprites and a Tresh. Use her minions to fill your fate bar, then enter reckoning mode and focus your attacks only on her.

The Maid of Windemere is not a powerful boss, but she casts various spells. Make sure you drink enough potions to decrease the damage you take from her, and then apply the strategy above. At the end of the fight you will be able to decide her fate.

If you kill her, return to the House of Ballads and talk to the Hallam the White.

For killing the Maid of Windemere, you will become the King of the House of Ballads, and you will unlock the House of Ballads trophy/achievement.

As a bonus you will receive a Twist of Fate, called Iconoclast, which increases your damage with Faeblades by 10%, adds 6% to your mana and 3% to your chance to steal 5 health.

Since we have completed the House of Ballads storyline quests, it is time to continue our quests in The Sidhe.

Fast travel to Vorm Lodge to begin the Shadow of Enfamanir side-quest.

Side Quest: Shadow of Enfamanir

Objective: Slay Enfamanir

From Vorm Lodge, travel SE and you will see a small entrance in the mountain. Inside is Enfamanir a boss resistant to fire spells but weak against lightning and sharp blades. Take him out quickly as he can’t resist too much, and you will complete this side-quest.

Main Quest: Old Friends, New Foes

Objective: Meet Nyralim

From Enfamanir’s cave, travel west and you will discover a new dungeon that you should explore: Rundamir. The dungeon is inhabited only by brownies and is filled with treasures. From Rundamir, go west, and then south until you enter Caer Nyralim.

In this area, you will see a large tree in front of you.  On top of it you will find Nyralim. Tell him that you want to see the King of Ysa and he will help you, but you need to complete a task for him.

Nyralim agrees to help you if you kill Gnarsh, a troll matriarch which can be found in Haxhi, south of Ballads Library.

Fast travel to the Library and then continue south, inside the Haxhi Dam.  Here, you will find Alyn Shir who will guide you through the dungeon. Stay alert because the Haxhi Dam is filled with Tuatha and Trolls, and this time the trolls are more powerful.

When you reach Gnarsh, stay mobile all the time and use a fire weapon. A good strategy to defeat this boss is to equip a set of Chakrams and use them while rolling around. This will help you avoid Gnarsh’s powerful attacks and inflict damage from distance.

After you kill him talk to Alyn Shir and and then return to Nyralim, who will send you to meditate in the Sidhe. At this point you should stop tracking this quest and follow the side-quest called The Silent Step.

Faction Quest: The Silent Step

Objective: Go to Arduath

Arduath is a dungeon located in the northern side of the Sidhe. The entrance is near a waterfall, and it can be spotted on the world map.

Enter the dungeon and in the first chamber you will hear Ametair’s voice. Ametair will not give you the boots without a proper fight. He is a very weak boss, but what make him so special are his speed, and his ability to vanish.

To kill him you have to chase him through Arduath, until you kill him. If you can stun him you may be able to take him down faster. After he dies, take Buru’s Boots and return to the Star Camp.

Give them to Crilgarin and you will receive a new faction quest called Jailbreak.

Faction Quest: Jailbreak

Objective: Find Grim Onwig

Since you have practically explored the entire map of the first area featured in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, you are now able to fast travel to almost all points of interest.

Grim Onwig is inside Ohn’s Stand, in Lorca-Rane. Fast travel there and talk to him. To set Onwig free you have to steal the Cell Key, a Stealth Kit and the Missive of Sable.

Since we already explored the dungeon in the previous walkthrough, we already know that the Jottun protect these items. Take them out one at a time, and get the Missive of Sable first, because you can trade it with the gnomish captain for Onwig’s freedom.

As soon as Onwig is free, return to Crilgarin in Star Camp and you will complete this quest; however a new faction quest for the Travelers starts: Something Borrowed. Observe that the Moon Camp was added to your map.

Now, it is time to start the meditation in the Sidhe. Locate the marked spot on the map and then travel there from Arduath (SE). As soon as you reach the spot, the objective of the main quest, changes.

Main Quest: Old Friends, New Foes

Objective: Enter the Gardens of Ysa

Proceed forward, following the path in front of you and you will enter the Gardens of Ysa, a magnificent place, where you will meet Chancellor Erawn, right at the entrance. Talk to him and your main quest will change: The Coming Storm begins now.

While visiting the Gardens of Ysa, make sure you delimitate the town first and visit every quest giver and building, before proceeding towards the main quest.

Check the Scholia Arcana Embassy and talk to Adept Jorum Quintis for the side-quest called Order of Operations. Also talk to Docent Augra Tenet to start the side quest called Trial by Fire.

Inside Asker’s Alley, you can talk to Gertern Asker if you wish to start a side quest called What Ales You, while inside the Embassy; Mythany Keen wants you to complete the Uprising side-quest.

Near the United Merchants Delegation, you will find Brit Codgan, and you can start the Status Symbol task. If you go to the central area of the gardens, on a bridge you will find a Fae named Brio. Talk to him and you will start the side-quest named Oh, The Indignitaries.

NOTE: At this point you should complete all the quests mentioned above, before talking to the High King of Ysa.

Side Quest: Oh, the Indignitaries

Objective: Talk to the four dignitaries

To complete this quest, you have to find and talk to four dignitaries. Grand Faemage Gorrenet, inside the Hall of Appointments, Viscount Setter the Allseer, in the western area of the gardens; Warlord Whenery in Asker’s Alley, and Great Huntress Hartween, in the  Trellis.

While searching for Hartween, talk to Nomeron for the One Drop side-quest.

He wants you to collect the water within four urns. The Ballads Sanctuary Drop is near him, while going down to the Gardens.

After you talk to all dignitaries, return to Squire Brio to complete the quest. The correct order is:

First will enter Great Huntress Hartween, followed by Warlord Whenery, Viscount Setter the Allseer, and Grand Faemage Gorrenet.

Side Quest: Uprising

Objective: Meet Ambassador Keen

Ambassador Keen is located on the eastern side of the Gardens, near the altars.  Talk to her and she will send you to kill Ambassador Brenner. When you enter the Embassy, you have to be very careful.

Using a pair of daggers, sneak behind Brenner, and remove the friendly target protection (press Up on D-Pad). Take out the ambassador when she doesn’t see you, then loot her body and salvage the daggers she was carrying. Return to Ambassador Keen for your reward

Side Quest: One Drop

Objective: Collect the water

For this quest you must gather the water from four urns scattered around the Gardens of Ysa. We already have the Ballads Sanctuary.

The Gardens drop is located to the east, near a large tree, the Memory Walk to the east, on the alley that surround the Gardens; and the last one is inside The Font, near the entrance to the Court of Summer.

After you pick them up, locate Lyceum Grove and activate the Flow Regulator.  Go back to Nomeron and collect your reward.

Side Quest: What Ales You

Objective: Talk To Jakasen

Jakasen is located in the Lyceum Grove. He will tell you where to find the Bristletongue, if you drink one of his potions.

Unfortunately, you will lose your memory, but to find this special ingredient you have to travel to The Font, in the Gardens of Ysa.

The ingredient is located to the east, near a stone pillar. Pick it up and then return to Gertern Asker.

Side Quest: Order of Operations

Objective: Locate the Initiates

This quest requires your presence back in the Sidhe, where you have to look for three initiates: Aloren, Cassera and Bertran.

Fast travel to Arduath, and then go SW, to find Aloren’s corpse. Pick up Aloren’s Journal, then travel to find Bertran’s corpse and journal, near the road.

Now, travel NE and pick up Cassera’s Journal. Return to Jorum in the Garden of Ysa, and give him the correct answer:

Cassera organized the theft, and Bertran was murdered, then the beasts killed Aloren.

Task: Status Symbol

Objective: Forge Ysa Honor Brands

You should know that this task is repeatable. For each ceremonial Faeblades you bring to Brit Codgan, you will be awarded. The ceremonial Faeblades are everywhere, including the chests you find in Ysa.

Make sure you bring them back and Codgan will pay for them. This task is similar to the Gathering Flames task you can complete in Didenhil.

Now, before talking to the High King, there is one last quest you should start. The Trial by Fire faction quest.

Faction Quest: Trial by Fire

Objective: Speak to Savant Engar

Engar can be found in the Delving Hall. You will be able to unlock it only if you started the Trial by Fire quest. Once inside, go north and you will reach the training hall.

Talk to Aethan Engar and start the trial. The trial has two phases; however, during both of them the only thing you have to do, is to follow a tunnel and then a short mountain path and kill everything that moves. There are no unusual enemies or bosses, but when you finish it you will see a powerful sorceress.

Unfortunately, the trial end before you can find more information about her, and you are sent to Aodh, a dungeon in the central of Sidhe.

Aodh is a complex dungeon filled with traps; however it is inhabited mostly by Sprites. Keep your eyes on the ground all the time, and if you trigger a trap, quickly roll over to escape. At the end of the dungeon you will have to fight a boss named Nuala Ignas. This powerful sorceress will cast various spells on you and she will levitate.

Enter reckoning mode if you can, and take her out. If you play as a warrior, use your Harpoon on her when she levitates, to interrupt her spells.

Kill her, and loot everything she carries, and then return to Savant Engar in Ysa to get your reward and your next quest: The Unique Bride. Since this quest must be completed in Tala-Rane, you should abort it for now, until you get in that area.

Now, it is time to speak with the High King.

Main Quest: The Coming Storm

Objective: Enter the High King’s Court

The get to the Court, enter The Font and continue south.  Agarth is waiting for you inside.  Approach the pedestal and place the Codex you have, in front of the King.

Pay close attention to the cutscene, and answer his questions. Tell him that you will go after Gadflow.

For reaching this point in the game you will unlock a new achievement/trophy: No Destiny, All Determination as well as a new Twist of Fate: Unwritten One.

From now on, you will gain +3% experience and +5% Gold when you kill your enemies.

Behind you, are Alyn Shir and Agarth. Talk to both of them in order to start two additional main quests: The Great General and An Old Friend.

NOTE: At this point you are able to travel to 2 different zones of the Faelands: Detyre and Plains of Erathell. We will focus on Detyre first, then we will move north to the Plains of Erathell.

The first stop in Detyre is the subzone known as Alserund.
