Cyrus Gold also known as Solomon Grundy is one of the playable characters featured in Injustice: Gods Among Us, even if he cant be accessed in story-mode.
Solomon Grundy was created by Alfred Bester and Paul Reinman, as a DC Comic character and a supervillain. He made his debut in All-American Comics #61, in 1944 as Green Lantern’s nemesis, but since then he also became an enemy to other superheroes such as Superman and Batman.
In the fighting video game developed by NetherRealm Studios for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, Solomon Grundy appears for the first time alongside other villains, helping Lex Luthor during the attack on the Watchtower, his opponent being Cyborg.
When the action moves to the alternate universe, Solomon Grundy joins Killer Frost, who is sent to protect Wayne Manor and to stop the Insurgents trying to retrieve the weapon created by Batman.
As a member of Supermans One World Regime, Grundy fights Green Arrow while Frost tries to stop Wonder Woman.
Eventually, Grundy is defeated by Green Arrow and when he tries to retaliate, he is struck by Green Lantern. The undead villain also appears when the Insurgents and Supermans allies fight on Strykers Island, and later during the cutscene showing Superman killing Shazam, inside the Fortress of Solitude.
After the attack on Gotham City, Solomon Grundy makes his final appearance fighting Cyborg again, but this time, he is helped by Killer Frost.
Costumes and Skins
Solomon Grundy is one of the few Injustice characters that can wear an alternate costume in the base version of the game, without requiring any additional DLCs or Skin Packs, and without counting the Regime and Insurgency costumes.
The Boss Grundy Costume can be unlocked by completing a classic battle with any character; however, players who wish to get the Red Son Costume must purchase the Red Son DLC Costume Pack.
Furthermore, the Earth 2 Costume Pack DLC adds the Earth 2 costume for Solomon Grundy.
