Scorpion, the third Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC character, was released on June 11, 2013 for players who didn’t own a season pass, and one week earlier for those who purchased a season pass.
Unlike Lobo, and Batgirl, Scorpion is the second Injustice: Gods Among Us character in the video game, that doesn’t belong to the DC Comics universe, the first being Ares.
Scorpion was created by John Tobias, and he debuted as a fictional character in 1992, in Mortal Kombat. His real name is Hanzo Hasashi, and he is a ninja born in Japan, as well as a member of the Shirai Ryu clan.
His nemesis and biggest rival is Sub-Zero, a member of the Lin Kuei ninja clan, who eventually kills Scorpion during one of their encounters. At the same time a powerful sorcerer known as Quan Chi, tricks Scorpion, and after he kills his family, resurrects the ninja as a specter, telling him that Sub-Zero murdered his beloved.
Looking for revenge, Scorpion enters the first Mortal Kombat tournament, he finds Sub-Zero and defeats him without knowing that Quan Chi is guilty for all the crimes.
After the first tournament, Scorpion continued to serve Quan-Chi, until a new Sub-Zero appears, seeking to punish the one responsible for the death of his older brother.
At the beginning of a match in Injustice: Gods Among Us, Scorpion can be seen fighting Sub-Zero, when he is dragged to the parallel universe.
Shao Kahn can also be observed in the background. Confused, Scorpion immediately enters his fighting stance; and at the end of the fight he sends his opponent to the NetherRealm.
Scorpions alternate ending, continues to show the confused ninja, who is looking for answers regarding the parallel universe and Superman, referred as “the fool in the red cape”.
His answers, however, come from Raven’s father, the demon Trigon, who accuses Scorpion for deserting his army and stealing the glory from him by defeating Superman.
Trigon and Scorpion fight against each other, with the latter emerging victorious and assuming control over Trigon’s army. With unlimited power at his disposal, Scorpion will soon conquer the universe.
Costumes and Skins
Even if in Injustice: Gods Among Us, Scorpion can wear only his black and yellow costume (Default Costume), it is important to know that the character was redesigned by the comic book artist Jim Lee.
The outfit he wears, is different than the one featured on Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 2011 or MK9.
