Injustice: Gods Among Us Green Lantern Character Guide

Voiced by Adam Baldwin, the Injustice: Gods Among Us playable character known as Green Lantern is the protagonist of the second act featured in the video game developed by NetherRealm Studios for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U.

As a fictional character and a DC Comics superhero, Hal Jordan became the Green Lantern after he met Abin Sur, a dying alien who crash landed on Earth.

Abin Sur pointed the pilot Hal Jordan to be his successor in the Green Lantern Corps by giving him the Power Ring, an item infused with the green light of willpower, which allows Hal to fly and to create any construct he can imagine.

His first appearance was in 1962 in Showcase #22. Green Lantern also appeared in video games such as Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, DC Universe Online, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, and he is the main character in Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters.

Unlike Batman, in Injustice: Gods Among Us Green Lantern is a Power User, because he is capable to perform most moves and combos using his Power Ring, and the constructs it generates.

Green Lantern’s Super Move, called “Beware My Power” allows him to drag his opponents to Planet Oa where Hal hits them with a series of constructs including two buses and four planes.

The first part of the second chapter in Injustice: Gods Among Us, named “The Same Only Different” begins with a cutscene showing Batman capturing The Joker, in a parallel universe ruled by Superman’s Regime.

While Batman realizes that he is in a “nightmare”, the action moves to other superheroes who have been teleported to the same alternate universe, along with the Dark Knight.

Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Aquaman and Green Lantern must reach the Watchtower and look for answers, but they don’t know if the Watchtower still exists.

Aquaman suggests visiting the Atlantis Archives; however, Green Lantern must recharge his ring first so he can teleport them to the said location. The superheroes  divide in teams, and Green Lantern travels to Ferris Aircraft Facility, a location well known by all fans of Green Lantern as the place where Hal met Carol Ferris, his boss and love interest.

Inside the facility, Green Lantern finds two members of Superman’s Regime: Raven and Cyborg, as well as Deathstroke, who was teleported along with Hal’s team to the same universe.

Green Lantern tries to stop Cyborg and Raven from killing Deathstroke, and eventually defeats both of them, liberating the assassin. Moments later, while he tries to find more answers about the man in charge for the new world order, Hal receives a call from Wonder Woman, who asks for his help against Green Lantern’s biggest rival, Sinestro.

Deathstroke seizes the opportunity and vanishes quickly. Green Lantern charges his ring, and then faces Sinestro who tells him that the One Earth law created by Superman is similar to the one he instated on Oa, which explains why Sinestro is a member of Superman’s Regime.

After a long fight against Sinestro, Green Lantern has a quick discussion with Wonder Woman but he is interrupted by his alternate version who also became Superman’s ally. The new version of Hal Jordan wears the Yellow Lantern alternate costume and claims that Sinestro was right, and that fear is stronger than will.

Once Green Lantern takes out Yellow Lantern, he reunites with Green Arrow and Wonder Woman. As they travel on the streets of Metropolis they find Batman who joins their cause, forming the Insurgency.

The final cutscene of the second chapter presents the events that take place in an alternate universe, where Superman, Cyborg and The Flash try to locate their missing friends who have been teleported to the city controlled by Superman.

Green Lantern’s alternate ending unlocked for beating the Classic Battle Mode shows an interesting turn of events after Hal returns to his dimension.

One day, while he was investigating a crashed alien ship, he discovers an alien who claimed to be Abin Sur, but this time the alien wasn’t wearing the Power Ring and he referred to himself as The Almighty One.

Hal Jordan tells Abin Sur that he pointed him to be the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, but unfortunately Abin Sur dies and the Green Lantern leaves to Oa in order to find more answers.

Costumes and Skins

One of Green Lantern’s alternate costumes that can be unlocked on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U is the Regime Costume available in the Archives; however, those who play the video game on iOS based devices can also unlock the New 52 Green Lantern Costume by completing a bonus battle.

Green Lantern’s Yellow Lantern Costume is unlocked by winning an online ranked match, and the Red Son Green Lantern Costume was included in the Red Son DLC Costume Pack 2.
