The following Gears of War 3 video game guide reveals some of the playable and non-playable characters featured in GoW 3, and offers useful information regarding each character, including how to unlock them and how to access them in the game.
Gears of War 3 became available on September 20, 2011, and is the final Gears of War video game.
It is an exclusive Xbox 360 video game developed by Epic Games and it was published by Microsoft Studios.
Some of the characters presented below also appeared in the previous episodes of the series, Gears of War and Gears of War 2.
COG Characters
Damon Baird – Originating from Tyrus, Damon Baird is a COG multiplayer character available in Gears of War 3. He is a Corporal and those who pre-ordered GoW 3 from Best Buy can unlock his mechanic character skin.
Michael Barrick – Michael Barrick is also a Corporal and a playable multiplayer character in Gears of War 3, but he can be accessed only by those who purchase the Gears of War 3 Season Pass.
Samantha Byrne – Born on Kashkur, Samantha Byrne is the first playable female character included in a Gears of War video game. She can be accessed in the multiplayer mode, along with Anya Stroud. She is voiced by Claudia Black.
Anthony Carmine – Anthony Carmine can be unlocked in Gears of War 3, by those who reach level 75. He is a private and the brother of Benjamin Carmine and Clay Carmine. The character is voiced by Michael Gough.
Benjamin Carmine – Benjamin Carmine is the brother of Clayton and Carmine. He was also a playable character in Gears of War 2 and in Gears of War 3; he can be unlocked by reaching level 34. He is the youngest Carmine character in the game and he is also a private.
Clayton Carmine – In the multiplayer mode of GoW 3, those who reach level 14 are able to unlock Clayton Carmine. He is the oldest brother in the family and a veteran who fought in the Locust War.
Augustus Cole – Augustus Cole is a Gears of War 3 playable character and a member of the Delta Squad. In the final game of the series, Augustus Cole, features an unlockable character skin, named Thrashball Cole. To unlock it players must finish 50 matches in the beta. When the skin is unlocked, players must complete 10 more matches to keep the skin in the final version of GoW 3.
Marcus Fenix – Sergeant Marcus Michael Fenix was born on Tyrus and he is the main character in the Gears of War series. Marcus Fenix is also a playable character in the multiplayer mode of GoW 3.
Aaron Griffin – Aaron Griffin is an unlockable Gears of War 3 multiplayer character. To get it, players must like the official GoW Facebook fan page.
Victor Hoffman – Victor S. Hoffman was born on Tyrus and he is a Colonel. The character appears in all Gears of War multiplayer modes, including Gears of War 3. The character is voiced by Jamie Alcroft.
Bernadette Mataki – In Gears of War 3, Bernadette Mataki is a downloadable character and the second playable female character. Bernadette Mataki is a COG Sergeant who fought in the Locust War and during the Lambent Invasion.
Richard Prescott – Richard Prescott is the former chairman of the COG. He was born on Tyrus and he is a playable character in Gears of War 3. In Capture the Leader he is the new team leader, and he replaces Hoffman in multiplayer matches.
Dominic Santiago – Dominic Santiago or simply Dom is a playable character in all Gears of War games, but inGears of War 3, Dom has a multiplayer skin named Commando Dom. This skin is a bonus for those who have pre-ordered GoW 3 from GameStop.
Jace Stratton – Jace Stratton is a COG Corporal born on Tyrus. He appears in Gears of War 3, being voiced by Michael B. Jordan. Jace Stratton debuted in Gears of War 2, during the second act and he is the main character in Gears of War: Hollow and Gears of War: Barren.
Anya Stroud – Anya Stroud is the third and final female character in Gears of War 3. She is a COG Lieutenant, born on Tyrus.
Tai Kaliso – Tai Kaliso is a downloadable Gears of War 3 character and a COG Corporal. Kaliso is also a playable character in Gears of War 2, and he can be unlocked by finishing the second act of the game.
Dizzy Wallin – Dizzy Wallin is a COG member and a Gears of War 3 multiplayer playable character. Dizzy is also an unlockable multiplayer character in Gears of War 2; but players need to finish the first act of the game in order to access him.
Locust Characters
Theron Guard – The Theron Guard is a playable character in the Gears of War 3 multiplayer mode. Originating from the Hollow, the Theron Guard is the elite unit of the Locust.
Theron Sentinel – The Theron Sentinel is also a playable character in Gears of War 3, and it is a unit similar to the Theron Guard, but it is considered the elite troop of the Locust Queen.
Grenadiers – The Grenadier is a Locust Gears of War 3 playable character that can be unlocked by reaching level 39.
Queen Myrrah – Queen Myrrah is the former Locust Queen and a playable character in the multiplayer mode of GoW 3.
Kantus – Kantus is another Locust playable character featured in Gears of War 3. He is also an unlockable character in the Beast Mode.
General RAAM – General RAAM is a downloadable Locust playable character in Gears of War 3. He debuted in Gears of War, and he was an unlockable character in Gears of War 2.
Skorge – The Locusts high priest Skorge is a downloadable playable character in GoW 3. He is the leader of the monks that serve Kantus and he can also be accessed in Gears of War 2.
Flame Grenadier – Those who wish to play Gears of War 3 as Locust Flame Grenadiers must reach level 26, to unlock this character.
