FFXV A Professor’s Protégé – Wyvern side-quest can be accessed only after you complete A Professor’s Protégé – Gigantoad quest, and only after you unlock Cleigne, the third main area in the video game.
After you disable the Imperial blockades between Duscae and Cleigne by following the game’s story, look for Sania at the Verinas Mart – Ravatogh Outpost.
You should see her standing at the bottom of a large radio tower. Talk to Sania to start the quest and obtain additional information.
As the professor reveals, you are done with catching frogs (at least for now), but your work as a student continues.
For your next task, you must find and slay a Wyvern.
Objective: Head to the Rock of Ravatogh
From your current location, head west towards the mountain you see at the horizon.
Leave the main road and look for a dirt road on the right side of the mountain. This road will lead you to the entrance of The Rock of Ravatogh Dungeon.
To learn more about the beasts you encounter while exploring it, as well as how to defeat them, check our Rock of Ravatogh Dungeon walkthrough.
The dungeon is straightforward and easy to follow. The moment you enter, hug the right wall, and keep advancing until you reach the first crossroad. Keep following the path on the right, and when you reach the second crossroad, switch to the left path.
Several steps away you should encounter a pack of Wyverns and Thunderocs.
Objective: Slay a Wyvern and Obtain Its Wing
Now, that you know how to find the Wyverns in Final Fantasy XV, let’s see how you can defeat them.
When you fight a Wyvern, it’s essential to use firearms, shields and ice spells. All other spells will deal reduced damage (100% or 50%), while the suggested weapons will inflict 120% damage.
Prompto’s Piercer technique will serve you well if you decide to use it, while Ignis can imbue your weapons with the proper spells if you activate his Enhancement technique. Blocking is also very important as well as warp-striking.
The Thunderocs are weak against swords, polearms and fire spells, all of these dealing 120% damage. Warp-striking is the key in bringing them down and stun them for several seconds. When they are stunned, keep attacking them, but move constantly to avoid their aerial attacks.
If you kill all Wyverns at this location, you will acquire not one but multiple Wyvern Wings.
Objective: Give the Wyvern Wing to Sania
Once you clear the Wyverns you encounter on the mountain, fast travel to the dungeon’s entrance, then head back to Sania.
Give her the material she asked for and the quest ends. At this point, A Professor’s Protégé – Myrlwood Firefly side-quest becomes available, but you have to travel to Meldacio Hunter HQ.
