Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough Episode 3 Oerba 200 AF

Oerba 200 AF is the second zone featured in the third Final Fantasy XIII-2 episode. You will unlock it after you complete Yaschas Massif -010 AF-.

The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough Episode 3 Oerba -200 AF- explains how to complete this specific area, where to look for side-quests, and how to finish the main-quest.

It is a text guide for FF XIII-2, created for those players who need additional help in the game,

Oerba 200 AF is a place well known by those who have played FFXIII. It is a zone covered by sand and filled featuring multiple puzzles.

As soon as you arrive here, you will receive your first objective.

Objective 1: What caused the paradox?

Move forward to the end of the stone bridge and send Moogle to activate the Temporal Rift.

Examine the glowing portal and read the Temporal Rift Crystal Bonds Tutorial.

Puzzle: Temporal Rift Crystal Bonds

The puzzle you must solve is easier than you think, but unfortunately, there is no fixed pattern to complete it.

Practically, you have to connect two crystals of the same color by holding A while near a crystal and moving to another one similar with it. The goal is to create the shape you see when the puzzle starts.

Even if this puzzle must be solved before the time runs out, don’t worry, because you have more than enough time.

What you should do, is to stay near a crystal and wait for its color to change, then press A and move to the next one, of the same color. Every time a crystal is connected to another one, a color will disappear from the board.

Finish this puzzle and enter the gate, and you will earn a new fragment called Time’s Stardust.

Move forward and kill the Cliones that attack you. Loot the sphere on the right, then look to the left for a dead tree.

Inspect the tree’s roots for another sphere.

Return to the main path and advance.

Kill the Cliones and the Chelicerata, for additional droplets, then turn back and look for a crack in the wall to the left.

Jump through it and advance, but be careful because several Seekers attack you.

Go right, around the house, then left, following the ramp, then left again, until you see Chocolina.

At this point, enter the house to the left, because there is a hidden sphere on the bottom floor. It contains the Map of Oerba.

Follow the stairs up and pick up the Visions Gate Seal inside the cube.

Go back down and move forward, but keep your eye on Moogle. Send him to activate the Temporal Rift, and solve the second puzzle using the same strategy you have used before.

This puzzle has two stages. Exit through the gate and you will receive a new fragment: Time’s Shell.

When you exit, go up on the ramp to the left, and advance around the dead tree and the building. Go right, following the stairs down and Mog will activate the Temporal Rift puzzle. Solve all three anomalies (stages), and exit to get a new fragment: Time’s Coral. Open your map to see the zone you have to reach, and go around the building and down the stairs on the right.

Kill the Ghast and follow the next set of stairs. When you reach the ground, look to the left for a sphere containing Cie’th Tears.

Advance and in front of you will appear a gate. To the right is a hidden sphere, up on a wall. Send Mog after it and you will get the Hyplocrown.

Near the gate, to the left you will see some stairs.

Go down, loot the sphere on the left, then continue west, on the beach. Enter the building and follow the stairs up, on the roof where you will find a garden.

Examine the Oracle Drive and watch the cutscene showing Lightning, Serah, Snow and Caius.

Stay alert, because when the cutscene ends, a boss fight begins. You have to beat Caius.

Defeat Caius

Caius Ballard is a very tough boss; therefore before engaging him, make sure you have enough potions and at least one medic in your party.

Caius regenerates his health, and because of this, you need a Saboteur, which is also capable to remove Caius’s buffs.

During the first phase, Serah should fulfill the Saboteur role, and Noel should be a Synergist, so he can buff your party, while Serah debuffs Caius.

After the first set of attacks, while your health is still up, switch to RAV/RAV/RAV to fill Caius’s stagger bar, and as soon as he is staggered, change to a COM/COM/COM formation to deal massive damage.

Eventually, you will be able to empty more than a half of Caius’s health bar. At this point, you will see him casting a new series of buffs.

Change back to the RAV/RAV/RAV formation and try to stagger Caius again, then commute to COM/COM/COM and finish him.

Remember that the medic plays a vital role in the party, so keep the creature alive. Since you can’t dispel the Regeneration spell Caius casts on him, the only method is to slow it down, by poisoning him. This is why a Saboteur is required.

Defeat Caius and watch the cutscene that follows, and the dialog between him and Yule.

When Caius leaves, he will drop an artefact called Artefact of Origins.

Complete the Live Trigger and you will receive a new objective.

Objective 2: Head for the gate

Go back down, and get to the beach. You will see the Chocobo waiting for you; however don’t leave this area because there is a hidden fragment you have to find. Mount the Chocobo and ride all the way back to Chocolina. While standing in front of her look up and to the right.

Chocolina stands near a small house, and on the roof, you will find the secret fragment, but to get there, you have to fly on your Chocobo.

Now, go up using the ramp on the right side of the house and then go left. Stop a while and look to the roof, and on the road, you will see a small patch of sand, which also looks like a small ramp.

Go there and run, then hold down B to fly you Chocobo. While on the white roof, dismount and ask Moogle to find the secret fragment. He will reveal the Graviton Core Gamma.

Now, ride back to the gate near the beach and leave this area. The next destination is Yaschas Massif -01X AF-.
