FIFA Soccer 2012 (FIFA 12) was developed by Electronic Arts. It is available for multiple platforms, iPhone and PC.
Fans of the game can choose to play in the Belgian Pro League known as Jupiler Pro League, with any of the 16 teams that make the league each season. The following videogame guide presents all Belgian teams, lineups and other useful information regarding each Belgian soccer club.
The official name of the Belgian Pro League is Jupiler Pro League. The first league includes 16 teams as well as promotion and relegation systems. The season runs from July to May. The teams play 30 matches and after that they enter in the play-offs. There are 3 play-offs:
Play-off 1 – In this playoff participate the first 6 teams.
Play-off 2 – The teams that finished the season between 7th place and 14.
Play-off 3 or the relegation play-off – Played by the teams that finished 15th and 16th. The teams play five matches against each other.
The first Belgian football league took place between 1895 and 1896 as a round robin tournament and had only seven teams. FC Liégeois was the first club to win the title. At the end of the 1907-1908 season, the number of teams playing in the first league was increased to 12. In 1921 the number of clubs was increased again to 14 teams.
When the German troops invaded Belgium, 2 seasons were suspended, from 1939 until 1941.
In September 1941, the competition was resumed and at the end of the season, the number of teams was increased to 16.
In 1982, Standard lost the European Cup Winners Cup final. Anderlecht won the UEFA Cup in 1983, and in 1988 KV Mechelen won the European Winners Cup. In 2000-2001 Anderlecht reached the second group stage in Uefa Champions League.
At the end of 2000s, the Jupiler Pro League was reshaped and a play-off round after the regular was introduced. Anderlecht was the first winner of the play-offs.
