The Ransom Victim is a side quest featured in Fable Anniversary that becomes available after defeating Jack of Blades. You can get the quest card from the map table in Heroes Guild.
Your objective is to rescue the chiefs son from the hands of the bandits by paying the ransom or by killing the bandit leader.
There are a few twists during The Ransom Victim quest, and the next Fable Anniversary walkthrough reveals what is the best way to complete the quest.

Walkthrough
After you accept the quest you need to teleport to Knothole Glade and go on the hill thats in the south side of the area. The chief of Knothole Glade tells you that his son was kidnapped by the Bandits and that they hold him hostage in a cave in Witchwood.
He gives you the ransom gold and he says that you can keep it if you kill the kidnappers. Before you can leave, the chiefs older son comes with another proposition.
He offers a large reward if you take his brother to him instead of his father. The cave that the chief mentioned is the area thats behind the Demon Door in Witchwood Stones.
Follow the path there and if you want a little help talk to the chiefs guard to join you (you can ignore the enemies you may encounter along the way). When you reach the Demon Door you trigger a cutscene and then you have to get inside to discuss business with the Bandit leader.
If you refuse to pay the ransom money he wont attack you, so you can use this to your advantage and make your first strike count. After you get outside the Bandits will attack you all the way back to Knothole Glade.
Therefore, use the Slow Time spell, because your objective is to protect the boy and you cant afford him to be hit. If you pay the ransom the Bandits are replaced with more powerful enemies, like Balverines. When you reach the Temple of Avo leave the boy at the entrance and deal with the attackers before going any further.
More Bandits are waiting for you in Witchwood Lake, so use the same tactics as before. When you enter Knothole Glade you can choose to give the boy to his brother who is waiting on the narrow path across the Demon Door if you want to do an evil act. Obviously, the right choice is to return the boy to his father.
You can reveal the older brothers plans to his father, but except for the changed dialogue nothing will happen. Regardless of your choice, the quest ends once you turn in the boy.
