Scholarly Pursuit is a Dragon’s Dogma side-quest that becomes available in Cassardis as soon as we enter Gran Soren.
To activate Scholarly Pursuit, and complete it, after we reach Gran Soren, we have to travel all the way back to Cassardis and visit Pablos Inn.
If we check the notice board, we observe that additional jobs were listed, and Scholarly Pursuit is one of them.

Walkthrough
Scholarly Pursuit is a quest in which our hero must escort and protect Father Clemente. Before we start this quest, we have to remember that if we accept the job, Father Clemente must survive the journey; therefore, it is a good idea to begin the expedition in the morning.
We rest at the inn, and then activate the quest.
Bloodwater Beach is located west of Witchwood, which means that we exit Cassardis and head north to the Encampment. From there we travel west and then south, until we enter Vestad Hills. Next we follow the path to the right, as we descend the hill.
During our journey we encounter multiple bandits, wolves and Saurians.
Note: During each fight we make sure that Clemente stays alive. If our companion dies, we will fail the quest. If a group of enemies is too strong for us, we will avoid it by going around them.
Eventually, we will see the ruins of Aernst Castle and the Eradication Site. We continue to travel south-west on the beach, because we encounter only goblins, which are weak enemies. As we continue to follow the beach and the hills, moving towards the marked point on our map, we look for a small tent on the beach, and near it, a boat.
When we approach the tent, Scholarly Pursuit ends, and it is removed from our journal.
