In Dragon’s Dogma, Guard Duty is a quest that becomes available in Cassardis, after we complete the Call of the Arisen story quest in the Encampment.
If we return to Cassardis and check Pablos’ Inn, we will find a young girl named Madeleine who asks our hero to guard her during the journey from Cassardis to the northern Encampment.

“Madeleine the merchant seeks safe passage to the encampment. You hope to earn something worthy from this troublesome escort duty.”
Details
“Despite her safety concerns, Madeleine has a knack for wandering off. Heed her closely as you travel to the encampment.”
Walkthrough
As soon as we accept this quest we have to follow the young lady and stay close to her.
The road between Cassardis and the Encampment is well known to us, since we traveled many times through this area.
Note: The fastest way to complete this quest is to play it during the day. If we stick to the road we wont encounter any enemies, but if wish to earn additional experience we could play it during the night and fight some wolves and goblins.
No matter when we complete this quest, upon our arrival, Madeleine will ask us to give her 1000 gold since she must reach the capital.
We can refuse or accept; however, if we pay her travel expenses she promises to give us a small discount at her shop.
No matter what we choose, our answer ends the Guard Duty quest.
