When we enter the Encampment, the second location in Dragon’s Dogma, north of Cassardis, the quest known as Upon a Pawn ends but a new story-quest becomes available, a quest named Call of the Arisen.
Objective
“A mysterious voice called when you arrived at the encampment. Perhaps it is your destiny that beckons ”
Details
“Approach the voice that beckons from the center of the camp.”
Walkthrough
To complete the quest we locate the northern tent where Ecbal resides. In the backroom we observe a round stone similar to the one found in Cassardis.
We approach and examine the stone, and hear a voice telling us that the pawn legion awaited us.
We also find out that the stone serves as a rift gate for the legion, and we are asked if we wish to prove our strength and become a part of the legion.
We accept the challenge and the voice informs us that the legion will guide us in our trial. We continue our conversation, then we are asked to search the camp for a threat. As we exit the tent, we travel toward the southern gate and notice some alerted soldiers yelling that a beast comes.
We join them and talk to Ser Flint who needs our help. We then follow the eastern gate, and exit the camp.
A huge troll appears in front of us.
First, we take out all goblins near the troll, and we maintain a fair distance from the creature, to avoid its sweeping attacks, then we focus on the monster.
Combat Tip: We place our hero behind the troll and land a series of special attacks, to down it. When the troll falls to the ground, we attack the head, using strong attacks. During the fight, we keep an eye on our stamina bar. If we run out of stamina we cant attack, therefore we should consume some curatives.
When the troll dies, we notice a monk on a hill, then we have to go back to the rift-stone. The voice behind the rift seems to be very pleased with our deed and allows us to select a pawn to join us.
Note: At this point, we are allowed to answer four different questions to customize our pawn, and then we can pick a vocation. We make sure that the pawn’s vocation depends on our class. For example, if we play as a fighter, we pick a support class (a ranger) or a healer. After we enlist our pawn, we enter the rift again and recruit another. By now, we should have four pawns of mixed classes.
As we try to exit the tent, with our party, Ser Berne stops us and asks us if we wish to complete a training.
If we accept we begin an optional quest called Strength in Numbers.
