The following Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation guide reveals the maps, tricks, tips and strategies that can be used by COD: Black Ops (COD BO) players who purchased the DLC, named Escalation.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation is the second map pack developed by Treyarch for the first-person shooter video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops.
The map pack, or the DLC, follows Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC which was released on February 1, 2011 for Xbox 360 and March 3, 2011 for PlayStation 3.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation was officially announced on April 11, 2011, and introduces four multiplayer maps and one zombie map.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation was released on May 3, 2011 for Xbox 360. For PlayStation 3, the release date for this DLC was June 3, 2011 and for PC, July 3, 2011.
To get Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation DLC on Xbox 360, players will need an active Xbox Live account as well as an active internet connection, according to the games official website.
Call of Duty: Black Ops was released on November 9, 2010 for Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS.
The title was rated M for Mature and was published by Activision, while in Japan it was published by Square Enix.
Soon after Escalation was announced, players were able to watch a trailer for the zombie map available in this DLC.
The trailer shows four playable characters, such as Danny Trejo, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund and Michael Rooker, and the map is named: Call of the Dead.
Zoo Map – Multiplayer
Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation, one of the multiplayer maps is called Zoo. In the game this map is described by the following lines:
“Best dry-aged meat this side of the Ukraine. Aromas that will tantalize the senses.”, but the games official web page offers additional information about it:
This zoo has been abandoned for years. Take to the defunct monorail line to command the higher ground and take up advantageous sniping positions. Use crossfire in bottlenecks to keep control of your enemy.
Players will observe that the monorail from this Russian zoo is the only way to get access to higher grounds, and the fastest way to travel on this map.
The team that controls the monorail has the best chances to win the match.
Convoy Map – Multiplayer
“Americana meets asymmetrical warfare in Convoy. Battle it out in the remnants of a collapsed overpass, take on all comers in the parking lot of a motel, and use the terrain to your advantage.” is the description offered by callofduty.com for the Convoy map included in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation map pack.
Unlike Zoo, the action in Convoy takes place in California, where an US convoy was ambushed.
The map offers close-quarters combats as well as an underground zone which can be used to escape or hide.
This zone can be found close to the collapsed road. In the games menu, Convoy is described as a map featuring:
“Asphalt, Rubber, doublewides and seedy motels on a bed of nuclear missiles.”
Hotel Map – Multiplayer
“This swank hotel has been turned into a battleground. All of the fixtures are still in place, but the guests are long gone. Dominate the poolside with a careful application of force while you set traps inside the hotel.”
The third multiplayer map introduced by Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation DLC is called Hotel. The action on this map takes place in Cuba and the factions that will fight here are the Op 40 and Tropas.
The map features multiple elevators which can be used to get access to higher grounds, perfect for snipers. Additionally, the Hotel map includes a sauna and a casino, but the strategic points are the hotels elevators.
Stockpile Map – Multiplayer
The last multiplayer map introduced from Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation DLC is called Stockpile. According to the games website,
“This snow-covered, deserted town hides a secret stockpile of weapons. Take control of the town square, lock down the stockpile, or run through the remnants of this once vibrant town, defending it from sabotage.”
The action on this map takes place in a Russian village, featuring a large building in the center. The interesting fact about this building is the its doors can be opened and closed.
Additionally, players will observe that inside it, there are many weapon crates, offering additional ammunition. The structure is the key point in the Stockpilemap, and controlling it it’s vital.
Call of the Dead Map – Zombie
Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation Map Pack also includes a new zombie map as well as new playable characters and a new super weapon.
Players are sent to a Siberian island covered with snow and ice, and filled with Soviet zombies.
The celebrities that appear in Call of Dead are: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund, Michael Rooker, and Danny Trejo, while some of the weapons available are the M16, the MP5K, the AK74u, the Famas and the M1911.
On this map, players will also have to fight against one boss, George A. Romero.
The map has multiple access points that can be used by zombies, including a large chain with direct access to the players ship.
Two zip lines connect the ship and the island, and they can be used by players anytime.
