Brink Game Guide: Standalone Dedicated Servers

Brink, or Brink The Video Game, is a first person shooter (FPS) developed by Splash Damage. The title became available on May 10, 2011 in U.S, May 13, 2011 in Europe and May 12, 2011 in Australia.

Brink was published by Bethesda Softworks for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it was rated T for Teen. The action in Brink takes place in a floating city, called The Ark.

The city was designed to support only 5,000 citizens with special abilities but soon their number increased to almost 50,000.

Unfortunately The Ark’s resources soon depleted and the unsatisfied people started a riot, and formed a faction named The Resistance. Additionally, The Ark’s leaders formed a different faction called The Security, with the purpose of protecting the innocent citizens.

While Brink also offers a single-player campaign, the game’s strong point remains the multiplayer mode. The video game features four character classes such as SoldierMedicEngineer and Operative.

Players can join any faction they want and pick any class, before entering a multiplayer match. Each class has unique abilities, skills and players are allowed to customize their characters.

Another interesting feature in Brink is that the characters can use parkour moves during the game. These moves can be performed through the game’s SMART system implemented by developers.

SMART is the abbreviation for Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain, and the system allows players to execute complex maneuvers using the objects provided by the environment.

In other words, SMART is a system that verifies the player’s position in the game, and tries to figure out the player’s intentions.

Various weapons and equipments can be purchased after the player accumulates enough experience points. The weapons that can be used in Brink, are divided in four categories: SMGsassault riflesshotguns and grenade launchers.

To support the multiplayer modes on PC, Brink features its own standalone dedicated servers that can be downloaded from Steam. The guide below offers additional information regarding Brink’’s dedicated servers.

Standalone Dedicated Servers
