Similar to our article titled Best Xbox One Games To Buy In 2017 From A Gamer’s Point of View, this is a list featuring the Best PlayStation 4 Games to Buy in 2017.

The same rules apply here. If a game is not on the list, it’s probably because we don’t intend to purchase it – after all, this is from our point of view as gamers.

Furthermore, we make our best to add games that have a confirmed release date or at least are expected to release sometime in 2017. God of War and The Last of Us: Part II, I’m looking at you, until we know more you’ll not make it on the list, otherwise you’re top choices!

As more PlayStation 4 games or release dates are announced we will update the following list – almost every title on the list, if not all, are PS4 console exclusives.

Don’t have a PlayStation 4 console yet? Take a look at this bundle, it includes one of the games in the list below.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Giant metal dinosaurs? Two, please! I have picked Horizon Zero Dawn as part of my Best PlayStation 4 Games list because it’s a new IP which looks promising.

It reminds me of Tomb Raider a bit (nice bow skills you got there, Aloy), or more like Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, but with robots. Although I can’t shake the feeling that this is a sci-fi third-person Far Cry Primal.

Horizon Zero Dawn is an open world game developed by Guerrilla Games – better known for the Killzone series – so we can expect the same level of impressive visuals.

In the game, you take the reins of a female hunter named Aloy, and so will we when the game launches later this month, because we intend to fully cover it on our YouTube channel.

NieR: Automata

This one is a bit of an odd choice. Why do I say that? Because it was chosen by my colleague, not by me, since he is the one who played the original.

I only got a glimpse at NieR: Automata when I played the free demo available on PlayStation 4, and I can tell you I am intrigued.

Usually I don’t have time to play (Japanese) RPGs or I don’t like them, but I certainly enjoyed the combat mechanics during the demo.

Nier: Automata is the spiritual successor to the 2010 cult hit, NieR, and is being developed by Platinum Games.

Detroit: Become Human

The title entered my Best PlayStation 4 Games list for 2017 because it shows lot of potential, since it’s developed by Quantic Dream.

Although it might be hit-or-miss, if we look at past games from the developer, like the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain and the not so highly-appraised Beyond: Two Souls.

Detroit: Become Human stars Kara, an android character who was previously created as a tech demo for the PS3, who discovers her “humanity”.

But after the E3 2016 trailer, it seems that you can take control of more than one android and you can shape the story to your liking through several decisions and choices.

Connor, the android we see in the trailer mentioned above, hunts deviant androids like Kara. I see a lot of different endings here…

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Although it’s not technically a full game, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a full-fledged standalone expansion developed by Naughty Dog, the guys behind the Uncharted series.

Did I ever tell you that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is hands-down my favorite game on PlayStation 4? Then imagine my excitement when Sony announced the story DLC, in which you’ll play as Chloe Frazer alongside renowned mercenary Nadine Ross.

The game is set in India, and you can expect the same cinematic-storytelling and action-packed combat. Improved graphics are in store for you if you can treat yourself with a new PS4 Pro.

The good part about this DLC? If you never got the chance to buy the Uncharted 4 Digital Deluxe Edition or the Explorer’s Pack, you can purchase Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as a physical or digital copy.

Release Date: 2017

God of War

I said I won’t include God of War on the Best PlayStation 4 Games list until we learn more about the launch date, but I couldn’t help myself. After all, the God of War franchise is the reason for which I bought a PS3 console (yes, I played the remastered versions of the PS2 and PSP titles, don’t blame me).

The God of War series is iconic for PlayStation and Sony, hence it’s a no brainer it would end up on the list.

But what do you do when you’re done with Greek mythology? You move to Norse mythology, of course! At first I wasn’t very fond of the idea of a God of War reboot, but after seeing the footage Sony unveiled at their E3 press conference, I am one hundred percent on board with the studio’s decision.

Plus, Kratos is still here, and he looks more badass than ever. Oh, and he has a son! What’s even more interesting is the fact that Santa Monica Studio opted for an open-world setting, which is quite unusual for a God of War game, but a fresh thing to try.

We don’t have an exact release date, but hopefully Sony will gift us, mere mortals, the game this holiday season.
