Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Misteriosa is a secondary location you will visit several times while following the game’s main story, or while working on completing all assassin contracts.
You will also visit the island if you retrieve the treasure map from Ambergris Key, because on Misteriosa you will find the buried chest following the coordinates on the said map.
Furthermore, Misteriosa includes two Mayan Stelae puzzles you have to complete if you wish to get the Mayan Outfit for Edward, but more important, on the island you will find another treasure map and several collectibles.
The following guide refers to the collectibles on Misteriosa, and offers tips that can help you find all of them in order to achieve 100% synchronization at the end of the game.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Misteriosa Animus Fragments Locations
Animus Fragment 1
The first Animus Fragment on Misteriosa is close to the southern wall of the large Mayan Temple.
To get the fragment, while standing near its location, look for a wooden pole on which you can jump.
Animus Fragment 2
The second Animus Fragment is located on the eastern side of the island, also close to the large Mayan Temple, and on top of a tree facing the ocean.
Climb the tree and move towards the collectible, following the tree’s left branch. Perform a Leap of Faith in the water below, to get the fragment.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Misteriosa Chests Locations
Chest 1
Chest #1 on Misteriosa can be found on the western beach. The chest contains 2 smoke bombs and 231 R.
The collectible is located on the upper level of the Mayan Temple, between a column and a wall.
Chest 2
The second chest is located north-east from the previous, and it contains 138 Reales, and pearl earrings (150 R). Look for it in the center of a camp, near a torch.
Chest 3 & 4
The third and the fourth chests are close to each other, in a cave. The entrance to the cave is on the beach.
One chest contains 972 Reales, and the other one 167 Reales and a gold pocket watch.
Chest 5
The fifth chest on Misteriosa is in the middle of a Maya ruin. Look for a downed column to locate is faster. Inside you will find a smoke bomb and 284 Reales.
Chest 6
The last chest on the island is located near the second Animus Fragment. While facing the tree you have to climb in order to get the fragment, turn right and you will see the chest on the ground, next to small wall.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Misteriosa Secrets Locations
Secret 1: Letter
On Misteriosa you can also find two secrets. The first one is a letter (My Apprentyceship), inside a bottle, on the eastern beach.
The bottle is on the ground between the water and a palm tree.
Secret 2: Cadaver
The second secret is a cadaver that carries a treasure map. The AC4 Misteriosa treasure map points to the location of a buried chest that can be found in Kingston. First, look for the treasure map in the tunnel below the first Animus Fragment.
After you get the map, open it and you will see two coordinates: 623,127. The Misteriosa map also features two drawings. On the left side of the map you can see the gulf in Kingston, while on the right side is the exact location of the buried chest.
Travel to Kingston and you will notice that the area is separated in two parts (north and south), by the gulf that appears on the treasure map. On the eastern side of the gulf, is a rowboat and next to it a shipwreck.
Walk around the shipwreck looking for several crates. Between them is a patch of dirt and the digging spot.
Dig to retrieve the buried chest in Kingston and inside you will find 3000 Reales and the design plans for the Blackwood Wheel.
