Charlotte is another Naval Fort featured in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and it is located in the southern area of the map.
Unlike other forts, Charlotte is a level 57 fortress; which, means that it can’t be attacked without purchasing a large number of upgrades for the Jackdaw.
The fort is protected by five defenses but its location and the weather increase the difficulty level.
Usually, when you attempt to conquer Charlotte, the weather changes and the waves will send your ship close to it. Furthermore, the Spanish ships also protect Charlotte, and they will attack you the moment they spot the Jackdaw.
To conquer Charlotte, stay as far as possible moving from one side to another. Your goal is to destroy the fort, and you can ignore the ships that attack you until all defenses have been destroyed.
When the fort falls into your hands, you can collect 2 Animus Fragments and 2 Chests inside the fortress and you can also play two new Naval Contracts (Naval Contract 11: Hunter Gatherer and Naval Contract 12: Papers, Please).

Chest 1
The first chest you can retrieve within the Naval Fort named Charlotte, is extremely easy to find, but you will have to conquer the fort first, because the collectible is inside the War Room.
After you kill the fort’s commander look for the chest near the left wall of the room, and loot it to get 328 Reales.
Chest 2
After you loot the first chest, exit the War Room and jump over the wall in front of you, to reach the lower level of the fort.
The second chest is located below your current position (lower level); in a tunnel that connects the eastern side of the fort and the western side.
The second chest contains a pewter tea set, 230 Reales and a tobacco box. After you loot it, remain close to the chest to get the two fragments in Charlotte.

Animus Fragment 1
Assuming that you are facing the second chest, within the tunnel, turn right and outside you will see a wooden crane.
The first fragment is on top of it. Climb the crane and walk towards the other side to get the collectible. Now, return to the tunnel where you have found Chest #2.
Animus Fragment 2
While facing the same chest, turn left, and exit the tunnel. The moment you step outside, look up and to the right to see the second fragment on top of a wooden ledge.
Climb the structure near the wall, and then jump on the ledge to get the final collectible inside the fort.
