Located north of Pinos Isle, Castillo de Jagua is an Assassin’s Creed 4 medium Naval Fort and an area you have to explore if you wish to get 100% synchronization while playing the video game developed and published by Ubisoft.
Castillo de Jagua is a level 32 fortress protected by 6 defenses.
The fort’s position won’t allow you to move around it, but its defenses are weak especially if you purchase enough upgrades for the Jackdaw. Castillo de Jagua or the Jagua Fortress was built by King Philip V of Spain, to protect the nearby areas from the Caribbean pirates.
Originally known as Castillo de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua, Castillo de Jagua was erected in 1740.
In Assassin’s Creed 4, the Spanish Ships protect the fort and they will attack you the moment you get close to the fortress; therefore, it is important to destroy the fort’s defenses as fast as you can, and then focus on your enemies.
Once the fort falls under your control, you can activate Naval Contract 01: Eye For An Eye and you can retrieve 4 collectibles inside the fort’s walls.

Chest 1
Inside Castillo de Jagua, the first chest marked on the map above is located close to a tower in the upper section of the fortress.
After you conquer the fort, while standing in front of the harbormaster, you will have to climb the wall behind it to reach the second level. Next, climb another wall using the cracks in it and look for the chest near a small tower. Inside the first chest are 139 Reales and a sapphire (130 R).
Chest 2
After you loot the first chest, turn left and stay close to the wall, moving east. Eventually, several steps away you will see a ladder that allows you to descend one level.
The moment you reach the lower level, using the ladder, go left and around the corner you will find the second chest. It contains 337 Reales.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Castillo de Jagua Animus Fragments Locations
Animus Fragment 1
The first Animus Fragment marked on the map is very close to the War Room, in the eastern area of the fort.
To get it, place Edward in front of the War Room, and while facing the large door, look to the left to see a pile of crates. Jump on them and go up to the next level. Turn left and you will see the fragment on a catwalk, easy to reach from your current position.
Walk down the ledge to get the fragment, and then look for the second one.
Animus Fragment 2
Assuming that you have followed the same order as the one above, you will find the last AC4 Animus Fragment in Castillo de Jagua near the south-eastern tower. After you collect the first fragment, descend two levels to reach the fort’s outer wall.
The last collectible is above another pile of crates and barrels, near a ladder. You can reach it by climbing the crates directly, without having to use other objects.
