Cabo de Cruz is a level 32 Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Naval Fort located in the center of the West-Indies Sea.
While the Naval Fort is named Cabo de Cruz, the area around it is known simply as Cruz.
Cabo de Cruz is a medium fort that can be conquered early in the game, because it isn’t located in a restricted area. Nevertheless, as a medium fort, Cabo the Cruz is protected by 4 defenses you have to destroy.
The fort is controlled by the Spanish fleet, which means that Spanish frigates patrol around it. Destroying them is imperative, especially early in the game, because they are fast ships and they deal medium damage.
Luring them outside the fort’s field of view is a good strategy if you wish to maintain the integrity of your ship’s hull. After you destroy one of the ships, board it and use the materials to repair the Jackdaw and continue the fight.
Once the fort is conquered, you will unlock a new Naval Contract, and you will also gain access to four collectibles inside the fort. The following video game guide explains how to collect all of them.

Chest 1
The first chest in Cabo de Cruz is located near the northern wall, close to a wooden door. To collect the money inside it, you will have to reach the upper level of the fort, by climbing the walls you have destroyed during the attack. Chest #1 on the map contains 278 Reales.
After you loot it, look around for a ladder you can climb to get in front of the War Room and collect the first fragment.
Chest 2
Inside the second chest you will find 279 Reales. Once you get the first fragment, look down and scout the courtyard. Notice the large tree and behind it, you will find the collectible.
Next, you should try to get the last fragment.

Animus Fragment 1
The first Animus Fragment inside the fort is close to the first chest and near the War Room. While standing in front of the War Room, facing the large doors, turn right and you will see a small wall, partially destroyed. Climb the wall and look down to spot the fragment.
Drop on the ledge where the fragment is located to collect it. Now, look for the second chest.
Animus Fragment 2
After you loot the second chest, near the tree, turn right, and notice the wall you have destroyed while attacking the fort.
Across the courtyard below your current position, is a small building and on top of it three wooden pillars and three cages for prisoners.
Look above the one in the middle and you will see the fragment. Head down and cross the said courtyard, and then use the crates near one of the pillars to get on top of it. From your position, jump on the ledge in the middle and collect the fragment.
