Age of Empires Online (AoEO) Game Guide: Technology Class: Utility

The third and final tab included in the Age of Empire Online Technology Tree is the Utility Tab.

It contains upgrades for support units, and upgrades that can boost the stats of combatant units, such as armor or damage.

It is also the tab that provides upgrades for towers and marketplaces.

To unlock new upgrades in the Utility Tab, AoEO players need Tech Points, and a palace in the Capital City.

The Utility Tab is similar to the Economy Tab and the Military Tab, but varies from one civilization to another.

In other words, the Utility Tab available to the Greek civilization is different than the one that can be accessed by the Egyptian civilization.

In the following game guide, Age of Empire Online fans can find all upgrades they can acquire through the Utility Tab.

The guide explains how many points are needed for each upgrade, and how these upgrades affect the player’s units and buildings.

Greek Utility Tree

Age 1

Scout – Points Required: 0 – Scout unit. A fast-moving unit that is good for exploring the map.
House – Points Required: 0 – Increases population limit by 5.

Age 2

Armory – Points Required: 3 – Research unit upgrades.
Infantry Battle Training – Points Required: 0 – Increases infantry damage. +10% damage.
Infantry Survival Training – Points Required: 0 – Increases infantry armor. +10% armor.
Archer Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases ranged damage. +10% damage.
Cavalry Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases cavalry damage. +10% damage.
Cavalry Survival Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases cavalry armor. +10% armor.
Archer Survival Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases ranged armor. +10% armor.
Guard Tower – Points Required: 1 – A basic defensive building. Provides garrison for villagers.
Academy – Points Required: 2 – Researches advanced upgrades.
Murder Holes – Points Required: 0 – Improves guard tower and removes its minimum attack range. +25% damage.
Philosophy – Points Required: 0 – Reduces research time for all upgrades. -40% research time.
Market – Points Required: 1 – Exchanges resources. Trains caravans.
Caravan – Points Required: 1 – Worker unit. Trades between market and town center for gold.

Age 3

Advanced Infantry Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases infantry damage. +10% damage.
Advanced Archer Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases ranged damage. +10% damage.
Advanced Cavalry Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases cavalry damage. +10% damage.
Advanced Cavalry Survival Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases cavalry armor. +10% armor.
Advanced Archer Survival Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases ranged armor. +10% armor.

Fortified Tower – Points Required: 1 – Improves guard tower. +15% health; +15% damage.
Fortress – Points Required: 2 – A strong defensive building. Trains Palintonons and Advisor units.
Temple – Points Required: 3 – Trains Priests.
Priest – Points Required: 0 – Support unit. Converts enemy units and heals friendly units out of combat.
Martyrdom – Points Required: 1 – Grants Priest the ability to quickly convert buildings but sacrifices the Priest in the process.
Stone Mason – Points Required: 1 – Improves buildings. +25% health.
Conscription – Points Required: 1 – Reduces training time of infantry, ranged, cavalry. -25% train time.
Price Adjusting – Points Required: 1 – Reduces Market exchange rates. -40% buy/sell penalty.
Trade Routes – Points Required: 1 – Reduces Market penalty. -50% tribute penalty.

Expert Infantry Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases infantry damage. +10% damage.
Expert Archer Battle Training – Points Required: 1 – Increases ranged damage. +10% damage.

Improved Will – Points Required: 1 – Improves conversion resistance for all military units. +50% conversion resistance.
Price Altering – Points Required: 1 – Reduces Market exchange rates. -40% buy/sell penalty.
Saddle Bags – Points Required: 2 – Improves caravan trading. +20% gold trade.

Star Tech: Critical Strike – Points Required: 3 – Improves chance to do triple damage on attack. Affects: infantry, ranged and cavalry. Always active. +2% critical strike chance.
Star Tech: Tending Wounds – Points Required: 3 – Enables units to heal themselves on the battlefield. Affects: infantry, ranged and cavalry. Always active. +2 health per second.
Star Tech: Strategic Defenses – Points Required: 3 – Reduces cost of guard tower. Always active. -20% cost.
Star Tech: Enhanced Fortifications – Points Required: 3 – Improves guard tower, fortress and town center. Always active. +20% damage.
Star Tech: Holy Feet – Points Required: 3 – Improves priest. Always active. +15% movement speed.
Star Tech: Eclecticism – Points Required: 3 – Reduces cost of Academy upgrades. Always active. -50% cost.
