Age of Empires Online (AoEO) Game Guide: Technology Class: Military

The second tab available in the Age of Empires Online Technology Tree includes military upgrades. Just like the Economy Tab, players who wish to improve their fighting units, will need Tech Points, earned by leveling up the Capital City.

Some upgrades that can be unlocked in the Military Tab are similar for all civilizations, but some of them are unique.

The Military Tab is used especially by those places who wish to Rush their enemies.

The Rush Strategy (Rushing) is a term well known to all real-time strategy players, and it is used by those who want to attack their enemies in early stages, trying to catch them unprepared.

In this case the Military Tab is the most important, because the player can upgrade his troops and benefit from those upgrades before a rival who uses the Booming Strategy, for example.

Age 1

Barracks – Points Required: 0 – Trains infantry units.
Spearman – Points Required: 0 – Infantry unit. A basic infantry unit that is effective against cavalry.

Age 2

Hypaspist – Points Required: 1 – Infantry unit. An adept warrior that is effective against other infantry.
Spearman Vanguard – Points Required: 1 – Improves spearman. +15% health; +15% damage.
Archery Range – Points Required: 2 – Trains ranged units.
Toxotes – Points Required: 0 – Ranged unit. A basic archer that is effective against infantry.
Stable – Points Required: 2 – Trains cavalry units.
