Finding all Watch Dogs 2 ScoutX locations is a great way to earn more followers for Marcus, while playing the action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Unlike other collectibles, such as Clothing Items, Paint Jobs, Unique Vehicles, or Money Bags, the ScoutX locations require your presence near important landmarks or unusual NPCs that can be found in San Francisco.
More precisely, a ScoutX in Watch Dogs 2 is a location where Marcus has to take a selfie with a landmark from San Francisco, such as a building for example, or with a strange character.
While there are many Watch Dogs 2 ScoutX guides out there, most of them are incomplete or quite confusing. Some of them list 56 locations, when in fact there are 57. Other guides fail to offer important information regarding the NPCs you need to find.
If you followed our Watch Dogs 2 Research Points guide, you already know that we prefer to go the extra mile by explaining in depth how to find the collectibles in the game, and also how to retrieve them.
Our ScoutX guide will be no different, and it will eventually help you find all locations you need to visit.
Before going forward, you should know that there are 57 ScoutX locations you need to visit in Watch Dogs 2, and for each picture you take, Marcus will receive 8.000 followers. So, mathematically speaking, for finding all 57 ScoutX points in Watch Dogs 2, you will get 456.000 followers.
Next, you should know that for some of these collectibles you will need the Quadcopter; therefore, make sure you buy one from the 3D Printer inside one of Dedsec’s HQs.
Finally, you should be aware that in some cases, as we have mentioned above, you need to take pictures of characters that spawn only at specific hours. For example, you won’t be able to find a mountain guide at midnight, when his work hours are over.
Additionally, the weather is also important. While you can take a picture of a building when it’s raining, you won’t be able to find an NPC, simply because it won’t spawn. Our guide also includes the hours when you have better chances to find these unusual characters.

Marin ScoutX Locations
ScoutX Location 1 (Point Bonita Lighthouse) – The first location on our Marin map is the Point Bonita Lighthouse. Take a selfie while on the ground, with the lighthouse in the background.
ScoutX Location 2 (Battery Spencer) – At this location take a picture while standing in front of the restricted area, and on the dirt street that leads inside.
ScoutX Location 3 (Golden Gate Bridge) – The third location on our map shows the Golden Gate Bridge. Make sure you are standing on top of the ramp you can see on the hill nearby. The Golden Gate Bridge must be in the background.
ScoutX Location 4 (Tree Houses) – This Watch Dogs 2 ScoutX location is close to a restricted area. Without entering the red zone look for several tree houses, and get a selfie with them in the background.
ScoutX Location 5 (Rock Piling Artist) – At this location look for a guy wearing a pink t-shirt, jeans, boots, and a hat made of straws. He is on the pier only if it’s not raining. Look for him in the afternoon.
ScoutX Location 6 (Alcatraz) – When you reach the location we have marked on our map, deploy the Quadcopter and use its camera to take a picture of the prison, while in the air.
ScoutX Location 7 (Alcatraz Guide) – This guy is wearing a red shirt, blue hat, and shades. He is in front of the prison. Try looking for him early in the morning (8 or 9 A.M.) before he starts his tour. You should see a small group of visitors near him.
ScoutX Location 8 (Vista Point) –Snap a picture at this location while standing near the United States flag.
Oakland ScoutX Locations
ScoutX Location 1 (Flask Mob) – Visit the first ScoutX location marked on our map for Oakland, only late at night (after 10 P.M.) and look for a group of masked NPCs wearing black hoodies. Make sure it’s not raining and take the picture quickly because they won’t stay there too long.
ScoutX Location 2 (Crazy Preacher) – The Crazy Preacher is not always at the location we have marked. Look for him in the morning (after 10 A.M.) when the sun is shining. This guy wears a white shirt and pink pants.
ScoutX Location 3 (Guadalupe in Woodland) – When you get to the third Watch Dogs 2 ScoutX location on our Oakland map, look for a mural on a blue house. The mural shows a young baby Jesus and his mother Maria, wearing white masks. If you see a car in front of the mural, move it away before taking the selfie.
ScoutX Location 4 (Masked Musician) – In Jack London Square, look for an abstract statue and a guy wearing a goat mask. He is playing a guitar, but he will spawn only if it’s not raining and usually in the late afternoon. Try looking for him after 7 P.M.
Silicon Valley ScoutX Locations
ScoutX Location 1 (Nudle Lightbulb) – Check the Noodle park and take a selfie with the large yellow lightbulb in the central recreational area.
ScoutX Location 2 (Stanford Tower) – At this location place Marcus in front of the tall Stanford Tower and take another selfie with it in the background.
ScoutX Location 3 (Tidis Building) – Travel to the Tidis Building we have marked above and while standing on the bridge outside, take another picture.
ScoutX Location 4 (New Dawn Temple) – For this ScoutX picture use the Quadcopter while staying outside the restricted area. Fly up and use the gadget’s camera, or stay on the ground and take the picture as Marcus.
ScoutX Location 5 (Nudle 360 Mapper) – This guy is quite hard to catch. You have better chances to find him early in the morning (around 10 A.M.), at the location marked above. He is wearing a white hat, boots and a backpack with a yellow sphere on top. Don’t try looking for him if it’s raining because he will not be there.
San Francisco ScoutX Locations
ScoutX Location 1 (Sutro Tower) – In Los Angeles, start by visiting Sutro Tower which was marked on our Watch Dogs 2 map above. Take a picture with it while on the street leading to the tower.
ScoutX Location 2 (Communities Not Condos) – At the location we have mapped above look for a wall with multiple Ostriches painted on it. Take the selfie while standing in the corner of the street nearby.
ScoutX Location 3 (Ubisoft San Francisco) – At this location take a picture with the Ubisoft banners in the background. You can find them above the main entrance.
ScoutX Location 4 (Recycle Your Emails) – Look for a large red building near the highway, and on it you will see a large drawing showing a leprechaun. Take the picture while standing in front of the drawing.
ScoutX Location 5 (Rabbit Business) – At the fifth location we have marked, look for a wall with a graffiti on it. On the wall, you can read “Rabbit Business – F**k money stock”. Place Marcus in front of the wall and take another selfie.
ScoutX Location 6 (Clarion Alley) – Close to the Dedsec HQ in San Francisco is Clarion Alley. This alley can be identified easily because it features a large number of graffiti. Take the picture while near the HQ.
ScoutX Location 7 (The Castro Theater) – Use the Quadcopter to take a picture of the Castro Theater, we have marked above.
ScoutX Location 8 (Love in Castro) – At this location look for a house with a painting on it, depicting 4 naked individuals. Notice the yellow background which makes the painting easy to identify. Marcus must be in front of it when you take the picture.
ScoutX Location 9 (Drag Queen Doorman) – Many players reported that the Drag Queen Doorman ScoutX might be bugged. In fact, this guy appears in front of a bar, only at midnight when it’s not raining. Try looking for him at 11.30 P.M. If he doesn’t spawn, fast travel to the HQ in Marin or Oakland, then return to his location. Alternatively try restarting the game.
ScoutX Location 10 (Painted Ladies) – The Painted Ladies are three houses you will find at the location we have marked above. Use the Quadcopter to take a picture of them. Two houses are blue and one is yellow.
ScoutX Location 11 (Shoe Garden) – In the park we have marked above, look for a small garden (notice the mailboxes), and take a picture with it in the background.
ScoutX Location 12 (Garden of Peace & Love) – At this location, look for an upper terrace and on it you should see more mailboxes, but this time they are on top of some pillars. Take a pic while they are in the background.
ScoutX Location 13 (Famous Fishnet Legs) – While standing on the street at this ScoutX location, look for a white house and check one of its windows. You should see a weird sculpture showing the legs of a lady hanging outside.
ScoutX Location 14 (Donut Guy) – This guy can be found when it’s not raining outside and during the day. He is in the corner of a street we have marked above and he is wearing a donut around his waist. Take a picture with him, then call the cops to arrest him in order to unlock an achievement.
ScoutX Location 15 (Body Paint Girl) – Across the street from the previous NPC you should see an unusual girl who has her body painted in various colors. Take a picture with her too.
ScoutX Location 16 (Danski’s Graffiti) – Danski’s Graffiti can be found on a wall we have marked above. It has a purple background and it depicts a face. Can be found near Merry J’s store.
ScoutX Location 17 (Murphy Windmill) – In the Golden Gate Park look for a large windmill and take a picture while standing in front of it.
ScoutX Location 18 (Battery Godfrey) – At this location, use the drone and fly up to get a picture with the bunker.
ScoutX Location 19 (Ballet Photoshoots) – This pair of dancers exercise only when it’s not raining. You will find them on top of a bunker, usually at 2 P.M.
ScoutX Location 20 (Zombies) – Visit the cemetery we have marked at this location after 11:30 P.M. to find some zombies. Make sure it’s not raining, and don’t get too close because they usually run. Take a picture with them in the background.
ScoutX Location 21 (Palace of Fine Arts) – When you reach this location, simply place Marcus in front of the round building and take another picture.
ScoutX Location 22 (Wedding Professional Pictures) – The photographer works only when the weather allows him to. You won’t find him if it’s raining outside. If he doesn’t appear even if the sun is up, try looking for him after 4 P.M. close to a bride and a groom.
ScoutX Location 23 (Alive Mannequin) – Look for these guys in front of a store, usually at 5 P.M. when the weather is clear. They are wearing black shirts.
ScoutX Location 24 (Chinatown Gate) – At this location, all you have to do is to take a picture with the green Japanese gate in the background. You can also use the Quadcopter if you like.
ScoutX Location 25 (California Aberration) – This collectible is a large poster showing an old man with a beard. It can be found on a red and white building, facing the main street.
ScoutX Location 26 (Erhu Player) – This NPC is very hard to catch because it spawns only if the weather allows. He will not play in the rain, and he can be found in the courtyard of a red house with colorful graffiti on its walls. Try looking for him at precisely 10 A.M. in the morning.
ScoutX Location 27 (Lombard Street) – Simply take a picture with the street while standing at its eastern end.
ScoutX Location 28 (Kawaii Dancer) – The dancer can be found at 11 A.M. Make sure it’s not raining outside and snap a picture when you are close to her.
ScoutX Location 29 (Peace Pagoda) – Very close to the previous Watch Dogs 2 Scout X location, you should see a large round Japanese pagoda. Your selfie must be taken while close to this specific building.
ScoutX Location 30 (Ukiyo-e) – The Ukiyo-e is a large Japanese painting showing the Golden Gate Bridge. Look for it near the previous two collectibles, on the exterior wall of a white building. There is a terrace placed under the painting.
ScoutX Location 31 (Crab Man) – The strange fellow wearing a crab costume usually performs after 5 P.M. at the location we have marked above. Again, it must not rain outside, in order to find him.
ScoutX Location 32 (The Parrots) – When you reach this location on our map, search the area for a building with a painting on one of its walls. The painting shows several parrots. Marcus must be in front of it when you take the picture.
ScoutX Location 33 (Coit Tower) – Coit Tower is an important landmark in Watch Dogs 2, so it’s easy to find. Use the Quadcopter to take a picture of this impressive building.
ScoutX Location 34 (Digital Emperor) – Close to the previous Scout X is a guy wearing a black topper. He is in fact a guide who takes tourists around Coit Tower. Make sure that the weather allows him to work, and try to be there at 10 or 11 A.M.
ScoutX Location 35 (Living Statue) – The Living Statue can be found near a palm tree on the pier. The weather, again, plays an important role when you are looking for him. Try visiting his location at 11 A.M.
ScoutX Location 36 (Bushman) – This strange fellow, can easily be found after 10 P.M. He spends his time scaring people. You should look for two talking bushes. This guy definitely has some issues.
ScoutX Location 37 (The Crab) – At this location you need to take a picture while standing in front of the large crab statue made of iron.
ScoutX Location 38 (Sea Lion Mural) – Look for the beautiful painting showing several sea lions, in the pier area. The location is marked on our Watch Dogs 2 map above.
ScoutX Location 39 (Pier 39 Sea Lions) – Move to the pier location marked on our map and take a picture with the sea lions resting on the stones.
ScoutX Location 40 (Ferry Arch) – When you reach this location just stay close to the arched building and take a picture with it in the background.
