Rockstar Games Working On Grand Theft Auto 6 Already?

In March 2016, TechRadar published an article stating that Rockstar Games had plans to place Grand Theft Auto 6 in Tokyo. Rockstar even sent a crew several years ago, for a research trip to Japan.

However, the developer abandoned the idea, because, according to TechRadar’s report:

“The road system was seen to be problematic and became one reason the idea was canned…Our source added that, as time has gone on, Rockstar has realized the difficulty in moving Grand Theft Auto outside of the USA, where it has firmly embedded itself. There are a number of series staples, from brands to cars, that Rockstar would likely have to change if a future GTA was set somewhere else.”

The interesting thing is that in 2003 Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, filled trademarks for GTA: Tokyo, GTA: Bogota and Grand Theft Auto: Sin City.

They soon realized that moving Grand Theft Auto out of USA is quite difficult.

Following TechRadar’s source, even if the location remains unknown, GTA 6 is in development.

Do you think is it too early, considering that Grand Theft Auto 5 is only 3 years old?

Would you want them to work on a new Grand Theft Auto game, or Red Dead Redemption 2, assuming that the Red Dead Redemption 2 leaked map is real?
