Final Fantasy XV A Better Force Stealer Side Quest Walkthrough
Hunting a Bandersnatch in Malmalam Thicket

Final Fantasy XV A Better Force Stealer side-quest can be triggered when you reach Cape Caem and after you learn from Iris how to grow Caem Carrots (Living off the Land side-quest).

It is also the final quest in Cid’s quest line if you followed our complete FFXV walkthrough, and you should attempt it only when your party reaches at least level 35.

A Better Force Stealer can be compared with A Better Pair of Plunderers side-quest, because the Force Stealer is acquired by trading Caem Carrots with Tony in Cape Caem; while the Monster Claw Cid needs to upgrade the Force Stealer is also found in Malmalam Thicket.

Therefore, in order to start A Better Force Stealer, first unlock Cape Caem by advancing the game’s story, then talk to Iris and complete Living off the Land.

Next, grow Caem Carrots and trade them with Tony until he gives you the Force Stealer greatsword.

Finally, pay a visit to Cid in Hammerhead and show him the weapon. Eventually, he will agree to upgrade it if you bring him a Monster Claw.

Objective: Find a Monster Claw for Cid

The Monster Claw is a rare item in Final Fantasy XV and can only be obtained from the beast known as Bandersnatch.

This specific beast is quite vicious and one of the spawning locations is Malmalam Thicket, but to find it you have to reach the end of the dungeon.

When you engage the beast, use lightning spells and polearms for increased damage.

Avoiding its frontal attacks is the key in winning the fight against a Bandersnatch in FFXV.

Since the creature has a 100% Monster Claw drop rate, you only need to defeat one to get the item for Cid.

Exit the dungeon, and go back to Hammerhead.

Objective: Give the Monster Claw to Cid

Show Cid the Monster Claw you looted from the Bandersnatch, and he will start working on your new Force Stealer.

To get the weapon faster, finish one side-quest or one hunting quest, then rest and go back to Cid.

When you pick up Force Stealer II this side-quest ends.
